Mine roots are like that:ohwell: After about 2-3 iches of growth it starts to act like the rest of my hair. It becomes a lot softer and less prone to dryness

Are you relaxed or natural because with relaxed the roots will be a lot drier because it curly and sebum doesn't spread all the way down that texture so have to moisturize more often

I have that problem too, and Im not sure what to do about it. I moisturize everyday, yet its still really rough in that area.

yup! its not that way in the front though, which kinda makes me think that it's my product application/ not distributing product on the entire strands that causes this.

That happens with me sometimes. Usually that reminds me that I didn't get enough leave-in/conditioner/moisturizer on my roots or I didn't rinse my shampoo out well from my roots.

Same here. When I started using Tresseme Naturals as a leave-in, and started applying my oils & gel from root to tip, I stopped having that problem. I also make sure to spray my roots at night with my spray bottle mixture.
