I ask because I keep hearing about how people have had bad experiences with micros. I think it depends on how you take care of them and to make sure you don't pull them too tight when putting them in a ponytail. I am going to follow Adrienne's regimen and keep them in for about 3 months...
I have retained length from wearing micros and I just wanted to hear from the ladies that have done the same.

Thanks!

Oh Yes I think you can do it but just be careful with your edges and also moisture moisture your hair while in braids.

Yes I am wearing them right now (going back to techniques that work).

With my micros, it allows me to oil my hair much more deeply then when I am wearing a regular doobie.

I can wash more often without worry of too much manipulation and can still use my deep conditioners as I would normally (concentrating on the roots).

Also as for moisture...when I take out my braids they are never "bone dry" because during that time I can give my self EVOO hot oil treatments.

Matter fact, Ima do one tonight

I wore my hair in micros for two years without relaxing. My hair grew about 5 inches in that time. It probably would have grown longer had I kept it moisturized, not pull it back so tight and too much, and taken extra care when removing them (now I know better). Be extra careful of your sides especially. I am practically bald on both sides and have been Surging up a storm this past week.

Well I just got them done on Sunday so I have "wet" them twice to soften them up a bit (they are a lil stuff on the scalp - but I have them up in a high bun).

I most likely will give myself a hot oil treatment tonight and maybe by Sunday or Monday give myself a lil wash. Unless its VERY hot out and my scalp has been sweating alot or I feel icky do I really need to "wash" (since the hairs themselves are protected and prior to getting them put in; I did a serious wash and protein treatment that Saturday.

As for my edges. Initially I didn't want her to braid them but she tricked me and I see the are braided anyway. When I pull my hair up in the bun, I make sure to pull those so there is not tension and if I feel tension or if the hairs grow out too much, I just take those braids out and a lil gel to slick em down.

i just got my hair braided on saturday and so far i've just been oiling and massaging my scalp, but i plan on buying some surge again
