I'm curious if there's anybody out there that's had a bad experience with any of the Silk Elements products. I've seen so many raves about it, but had a terrible experience with the relaxer myself, so I was just curious.

I don't. I did not like the relaxer or deep conditioner. The relaxer underprocessed me BIGTIME.

I didn't like Silk elements either...I did at first but after a week I was really thinking that it was no better then any others I had tried. I was really hoping I wouldn't have to flat iron and blow dry my hair with that relaxer. But I had it, and it made my hair crunchy. I think it also underprocessed me as well. Not sure either that or I didn't leave it on long enough.I'm at 12 weeks stretch so next one Im going to try is the ORS Lye Relaxer.

i HATE it. I tried the lye relaxer after people raved about it and it dried the $@!% out of my hair. I was not amused. Other than their heat protectant, which isn't even all that great, I won't touch any more of their products with a 10 ft pole!

The conditioner it the BOMB; has excellent slip but itslike Nexxus Humectress, no real diffrence... , the deep intensive treatment is so garbage( 2 thumbs down) ,I so will never trade my Alter Ego garlic treatment ever for something else..The deep treatment just sits on your hair and is hard to wash off you need a clarifier to get it out, it goes on smooth but than turns to lumps:straight garbage.. The relaxer never tried it but I hear too many mix reviews, My motto from now on if a products works keep it ! only go to something else if it's not working with you...

I had a stylist use the Silk Elements Lye Relaxer on me and it ate up my scalp and left me underprocessed.

I've also used Silk Elements leave-in moisturizing creme, which is okay, but nothing I'll buy again.

The heat protectant is really annoying. It comes out of the bottle like a hairspray with this really perfumy smell that really chokes me up. And I hate the way it make smy hair feel. I also tried one of the moisturizing deep conditioners in the sample pack, I wasn't completely impressed, but I guess it was alright.

I have heard people complain about hair reverting and getting underprocessed from Silk Elements. I believe it was MizaniMami or someone who started a thread on it, it is pretty long so you can get more feedback in there...Everything really isn't for everybody because it works great for me...but I texlax:look:

I relaxed with SE and I had great experience with the relaxer both times. I do agree that some of the maintenance products are just okay, but overall I'd probably recommend the line to someone.

I texturized with SE lye and my hair is doing very well. Trimbride could have a point about this relaxed straight vs. texlax thing.

Ive used silk elements. I think its good at moisturizing well. It didnt leave my hair dry or burn me. The thing that I didnt like was that my hair reverted rly quickly.

Like in 2 weeks it looked like I didnt even relax lol.

So Im now relaxing with ors olive oil-no lye

After my sister's rave reviews, I made the mistake and bought practically the whole line. I didn't like the way my hair felt afterwards. So, I ended up having to give the products to my sister. A waste of money!!!!

I have self relaxed with SE lye 3x now. I can't really say if it's the relaxer or my developing my self relaxing technique since I have never self relaxed with any other product before. My hair is definitely not as straight as it used to be in going to the salon, it's on the texlaxed side. So I am interested in trying the ORS lye at some point for comparison sake.

I use the SE leave-in creme and it's good. I haven't used any other products from the line.

That's the exact same thing that it did to me. I made my hair feel like a freakin brillo pad:mad:

I've used SE regular lye twice, and I have noticed this same thing. It's funny because I have noticed that it reverts a little after a couple of weeks; not all the way; but it's definitely noticeable. My hair is definitely not bone straight, but it has not dried it out. I like it not bone straight though; it has more body and is not plastered to my head like after Affirm at the salon.

Next time I'm going to try using the half and half method. I think it will come out better if I take more time to make sure I have enough of the cream on my hair and have plenty of time to smooth.

I see that most are having problems with the lye. But what about Silk Element's no-lye? Ill bet that one is pretty good.

Priestess, I cant believe you are leaving the SE club.:(

This is what happened to me. I loved the initial results but it just didn't last. I had to use certain products to help me stretch. This is the only reason I had to switch. It never burn but or anything. Actually I had to leave it in longer than I was suppose to get it straight enough. However right not I'm very happy that I switched. The maintenence products seem to be just okay and the word 'silk' just doesn't really fit.

The SILK ELEMENTS MegaSilk Leave In Hair Moisturizing Creme dried my hair out something fierce. I gave it away.

I had my hair texlaxed with the mild, my hair broke off and was super dry and I ended up having to get a micro-twa.

I self-relaxed with it in December. My scalp didn't burn and my hair felt nice, but it was underprocessed. I can't tell if it was the relaxer's fault though - this was my first self-relaxer in YEARS (I was nervous) and I stuck strictly to the time limit for my hair type. I'll try it one more time and leave it on a few minutes longer. If it underprocesses me again, I may switch to the ORS No-Lye. We'll see.....

The first and second time Silk elements underprocessed me. It turned out to be my benefit because my hair is thriving now that it is texturized. So I now know I can can rely on a Silk elements to underprocess me everytime. I do love their deep conditioner. Usually I mix it with Lekair cholesterol (the pink kind) sleep with two plastic caps and a bonnet on and it makes the most awsome deep conditioner ever.

I love how silk elements makes my hair feel. however i'm considering changing relaxers due to underprocessing i'm thinking of using ORS Lye regular.

Same thing happened to me. Some of their maintenance products are okay like the anti frizz serum.

I noticed that the SE relaxer did leave me underprocessed. At first it was pretty cool, I liked the texture, but I believe this is was the reason for the breakage I have experienced and the nightmare with detangling. Next time I plan to relax with ORS lye if I can find it. I have only seen the no lye so far......

Dionne I can't find the Lye ORS either. The only SE product I used was the megasilk conditioning treatment. I didn't like it but I revisited it last night and had the same results. NO SLIP at all and only slightly moisturizing. I don't think anything is ever going to replace my beloved  Motions Moisture Plus.

CRLSweetie

Im on a mission to find that ORS. I plan to relax in about 2 weeks so I still have time. If all else fails I WILL NOT be using that SE relaxer. I remember using the optimum relaxer in the past with good results. I see they have a new one that's said to reduce the chance of breakage.
Let me know if you have any luck finding it :perplexed
