Years ago I would go 3 months or so without even trying to, and my mother perm my hair telling me I waited too long. I also remember my hair being it's healthiest and the longiest. Now when I stay away more than 2 months my skin doesn't look as clear and I tend to get a little tender headed. Gonna give it a shot this winter, I think stretching promotes lots of length

I'll go first :look: Co-washing and moisturizing has helped me alot~

I co-wash with Suave Humectant every other day and moisturize with ORS Olive Oil *i used to use Elasta QP Mango Butter*.

What made my stretching easy was co-washing and moisturizing too. I also would wear my hair in larger twists/plaitts/braids while I continued to co-wash daily and used a poo weekly. The size made it easy for me to take down each section and detangle with a lot of water and conditioner. I discovered that thoroughly detangling 2-3X weekly was perfect for me to avoid knots/tangles. I wear a wig over my hair as a protective style when I go out.

What allows me to stretch is co-washing twice a week, rollersetting, and moisturizing. Also wearing tension free protective hair styles and using the scarf method (to keep my edges straight) helps alot too!

For me it's leaving my hair alone. As the weeks go by, I will cowash, put my hair in a wet bun, tie it down with a scarf at night, and leave it for 4 days in a bun. Then start all over. No combing, brushing, etc. Low manipulation has been the best for me.

Great tips thank you ladies,
Not familiar with co-washing, other than the threads I read here. I wear french braids and get them done every two weeks. I don't usually wet my hair during the braids, tangles my hair pretty bad and after enough new growth I tend to get tender headed. But a really large tooth comb and patients eventually I'll get the comb through it. Soooo. Tips on stretching and co-washing needed. Thank in advance

Yeah, like the others you can't go wrong with Co-Washing and Deep Conditioning w/heat or just wear a baggy. Thats has help me out, and keep the ends moisturize you will be good. Now rememeber some days will be better than others, but just hang in there and you will be good. Im at 9 weeks and about to call it quits, this NG is out of contol, I can't wait to relax, I know I can official claim SL.

All co-washing is, is washing your hair with just conditioner and not using shampoo. Shampoo is drying. Get a cheapie moisturizer *some prefer V05 or Suave* I use Suave Humectant. Rinse out moisturize, seal with oil then bun *with wet hair*. That is my routine.

Thank you so much Mrs.Green,
I'm gonna try that. Do you know if I can incorporate Ayurvedic powders with this procedure, maybe if I made a tea out of the powders and rinsed with the conditioner during a co-wash.
