I got my hair relaxed June 6 03,I want to hold out until the end of August, but I have noticed that I have a lot of new growth.Since I have been following the methods u guys have taught me, like taking biotin supplements an washing hair more frequent, but I hate how my hairline looks with the new growth. For the ladies that hold out past 8 weeks or more and have a lot of new growth what methods or styles do u do to help prevent the difference in the look between the new growth and the relaxed hair.I am a 4b girl please help me look

you are too funny. i am experiencing the same thing right now. i do not know if i will be able to go 16 wks without a touchup....i add more oils to my deep conditioner, and i sit under the hooded dryer for 30 mins to allow them to penetrate into my scalp and hair. so far, this has been helping to keep my new growth manageable.

jojoba and avocado oils will do just fine. they come recommended for adding moisture and softness... peppermint oil is more for stimulating......

I use Dudley Creme press on my roots, it's really great at getting them soft and straight. Sometimes if I'm really trying to stretch my relaxer a long time I'll use a flat iron on my roots only, I think in the long run it's better for my hair to lessen the difference between the texture of the new growth and relaxed hair to avoid breakage. For the front try putting wild growth oil or the dudley creme press and smooth it down and then wrapping with a scraf before bed that helps keep my hairline straight.

Thanks also for the tips emeraldsky. Does the wildgrowth really tame down the growth?

I am using braidouts now to blend the textures... I am 12 weeks post-relaxer and will like to hold out until 16.

This is when I use more of my leave in conditioners and/or Wild Growth Oil. I wear braidouts or twistouts too. This style actually looks better with more new growth because it's fuller.
