Hello everyone, I am new, and I have been lurking on here and watching youtube, and I am seeing all the beautiful hairstyles and I have attempted to do them.

Heres the problem, I have a nice nice size bald spot smack dap in the center of my head. I am currently being treated for it, no growth in that area, but other thinning areas have. Anyhoo, I am not allowed to wear tight braids, so no sew ins anymore. I am natural Have any of you lady's heard of a person attempting to put kankelon(sp) in their hair as a filler. I'm thinking I could 2 strand twist my hair around the spot, and bobbypin the hair in, and style it that way to cover the spot. I'm trying to really do this natural thing justice with some style, but I am so TIRED of wearing my hair pushed back with a head band on, and I don't think it's good for the front to constantly be pushed back. I need some diversity in my life.
If you could picture what I'm saying, do you have anysuggestions

Well since you can wear your hair pushed back with a headband, I assume the spot can be covered with the other hair.

Have you tried twist/braid/bantu knot outs? I do those to stretch my hair a bit and then do pin ups, french rolls, and buns. I don't really two strand twist because my twists look really anorexic. I think you'll definitely have to get creative in order to switch it up until that area grows in.

My twist and braid out look anorexic as well, lol
I can get away with the curly fro,
and my hair pushed up into a fake puff, that's it, and I don't like wearing the puff alot, because the pony tail pulls on my hair, I have pinned it up sometimes to give my hair a rest from the hair tie.
But I'm going to try it, I think I'm going to add a little color to add some funk to it, the fake hair, not color my hair.. My friends wedding is next month, and I really want my divaness to show.

i have a sparse middle nape and my hair in the crown is coarser and shorter than the rest...i suggest doing a twistout or braid out and rocking a mohawk with side combs...to camouflage/hide the bald spot in the middle:yep:

If you can, totally avoid the fake puff because you still have some problem aras on your scalp. How long is your hair? I think you should try out what the ladies above have suggested... I am not natural (yet) so I can't give better advice.

Good luck!

I had the same experience from a bad sew-in job....i would be more concerned with growing your hair back in...than styling it. Because if you put too much tension on it, it will stunt the growth. And i would DEFINATELY not put any fake or even real hair near the spot, because the friction will break off any new growth you have. Maybe try wearing a bun, or even your natural hair in cornrows...

What i did is i messaged the spot daily with oils and cornrowed my hair and wore a wig for a few months..the spot grew back VERY QUICKLY and i was able to just wear my hair out and the hair pressed out and the hair souronding it covered it in no time... but honestly if you are concerned with growing that spot out and thickening up the rest of your hair the key is as little manipulation as possible! oh and messaging! HTH

I got tired of wearing a wig, plus the wigs contributed to my sides thinning.

The spot is soooooo big, and it's bald. It was there way before the sew ins, that is the reason I wore the sew in. I'll try to keep playing around and seeing what I can do.
When I wear the fake puff, it's hollow on the inside so it doesn't touch my scalp. And I don't wear it often, trying to stay away from any pulling.

Your hair is very fragile. Did you wear a stocking cap? Don't have any more advice. I know how it is to be sick of wearing something over and over. Keep massaging that scalp and take some hair vitamins.

hmmmnnn......well.... lets see what else we can pull out of our sleave.what about putting your hair up in a ponytail and wearing it in phony pony..or the poof like you said...as long as not fake hair is touching your scalp that might work and tha way you can still message your scalp and keep your hair conditioned.....and with a phony pony you can still have a few options of wearing it, in case you get tired of one look??? maybe i need to ask... how long has the spot been there?

Thanks for the response
Yes I wore a stocking cap, I think that's probably what wore the sides down. I take biotin and Ultra Hair thick shake with plenty of vitamins. I don't think the spot will grow back, it's been there a good while.

My oil concoction I put together, is coconut, peppermint, lavender, castor oil, avocodo, and MSM. It does feel good.
My doctor put me on, biotin Clobetosol foam and I was taking women's rogaine, but started growing the beard so he told me to just take the clobetosol, and continue with the biotin.

How about wearing a wig? Instead.

If you don't want a wig, then wear a phony puff. That's what I did when I had a bald spot. I made a phony puff and just square plaited the hair around the bald spot to keep it from tangling and wore it over. I then just cornrowed the other hair so the cornrows ended under the puff. Here's the puff I made and wore over my bald spot while it grew:

I later bought a real puff and again it took me through the months it took for my hair to grow back:

This way, there's no stress on or around the spot.
