I was just wondering if anyone has started with short hair like mine and had great success since they've been on LHCF. It would be very encouraging to see the progress, so I know that I could do this for years to come.

I started with short hair...even though my hair anorexia tells me it's still short.

But there are much better success stories out there than mine. I've done a lot of cutting on it since I've started.

The second pic was taken about two months ago when I was trying to wear it down.:perplexed

I started out with short hair similar to your length when I joined in Aug. 2005. While growing it, I kept the back cut low into a bob style throughout the growing process. My progress pics are in my siggy.

Fellow short hair here. My hair is about ear length now and I'm trying to get to cheek length by the end of the year.

My hair is a little past my ears. Im trying to get it longer by not combing it as much...and no more wrapping. Wrapping definately caused so much breakage.

Kimberly and Ambitious, you girls are doing real good. It gives me hope that I will get to at least chin length soon like B Phlyy. Thanks for the replies!:)

I had to get my hair cut off about 3 years ago because of extreme damage caused by yours truly:ohwell: I got it cut in a cute bob a with the sides a little longer than yours but the front was so short I couldn't even wear bangs and my back was short like yours (actually so short that I had to use a lot of hair pins when wearing it back to keep sides from popping out)
..I decided I was going to grow my hair out w/o beauticians and just basically wore my hair in protective styles w/o knowing that's what I was doing..I would wet my hair everyday, use pink lotion:lachen: & grease:lachen: & no heat and by God's grace I found this website earlier this year..but my hair has come a long way (see my avatar-air dried hair straight)..it's growing out & healthy ... I Sorry I don't have b/4 pics to share with you

I really short about a year ago (which is the first photo). I loved this cut. It was so cute and easy. I found the site when I decided I needed to arm myself with knowledge on how to grow and handle my hair. The last two were taken 2 weeks ago right after my relaxer. I've had ups, downs, deep trims, breakage, stylists changes and relaxer changes. But a year into the journey I am happy with my progress mostly because I am mostly over the trial and error part and expect good growth in Year 2. Also my hair is nice and healthy in a way it hasn't been in years! :)

Good luck

I started off with short hair that was about chin length. It's actually been way shorter than that before.

It's now approaching brastrap. I have about 4 more inches to go. I would have been there already had I not been so scissor happy.

I wore my hair really short for about 2 1/2 years. I usually get bored with hairstyles after so long so I decided to grow it out. My hair grows really fast and had grown out into a healthy chin length bob before I ever discovered this and UBH's website. I started having problems after that and couldn't figure out why. The front of my hair is thinner than the rest and started breaking off. I had to keep cutting my aggressive growing back and sides to let the front catch up (which it never did). I started getting depressed and that's why I've been researching black hair and hair products for months now. So, NOW...I know what I was doing wrong. It includes using Design Essentials relaxer (too strong), over processing my fine 4a front hairline (relaxer) and using my alcohol based Design Essentials hairspray to smooth the front of my hair down. I was doing this to avoid using hair gel and to avoid stressing the already broken front hair. I'm due to get my 3rd affirm relaxer this (normally every 6 weeks) but I'm gonna stretch it out to 8 weeks for the very first time AND I'm gonna tell my stylist to relax my hairline and nape last and not relax me bone straight. We'll see how it goes. I'm now trying to get my front and sides caught up to the back which is at the bottom of my neck. I haven't posted pics yet but I will eventually.

SHORT HAIRED SISTERS UNITE! hehehe We gotta catch up with all these ladies with hair past their shoulders and longer!

Hey y'all! I, too, have short hair... I BC'ed back in August of last year (around the same time as Ambitious) and wore my TWA natural for about 5 months then texturized it. After a bout of dry ends, scissor happy stylists, a botched color job and, most recently, an overprocessed textlaxing, my hair is the same length it was about 8 months ago. :( I'm still trying to learn how it behaves, what works best and must refrain from falling into the personal trap of following in everyone else's footsteps when it comes to haircare. "Everything ain't for everybody..."

Best of luck on your journey. Know that there are some of us on this board who have shorter-length hair and who are looking for ways to voice the frustrations, concerns and questions that are uniquely ours...;)

I am going to be starting out new w/ short relaxed hair on Saturday. Let's track our progress.:D
