Hi, ladies! So I took pics of my hair saturated with conditioner on a whim since I've been wondering what my hair type mostly consists of. Hopefully you guys can tell my hair type in this state.

*Just so ya know, there's the several inches of newgrowth+ the front length is sorta jacklaxeded :nono:+ the back length is more texlaxed .*

Pics in my gallery since I can't figure out how to post'em here.

Thanks for the quick response! I should mention I was trying to seperate my hair a little to show the texture better so a few pics might have me stretching a little.

i say 3c are u stretching or transistioning ?

Transitioning and excited! Btw, in what specific state should hair be in to determine hair type? I'm too scared to air dry my business naked you know *shudder*? Hopefully pics w/ saturated con aren't misleading :ohwell: .

You can't type hair with conditioner on it hun. You need to wash it and let it airdry with no products unmanipulated to see what it's going to look like. Plus your relaxed ends are weighing the curl pattern down too so you won't really know what your true texture is until after you cut. For now, you can just get a general idea. There's an obvious curl pattern there though so you're probably going to be a 4a.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say 4a, but you will need to cut off the relaxed ends to really know the true hair type

Yes, I agree. Type 4 hair with conditioner in it is not a good representation of what the hair is really like.
Can you post some pics of your hair wet with just water, no conditioner. no product.
And then some photos of your airdried hair.

Those photos appear to be in the 4a area to me too.

I had a complete brainfart and forgot about the factors when determining types. I'll retake the pics on naked hair wet and dry since I'm anal like that about random things.
My gut says my texture will change/ tighten after the big chop (I have thick strands) and change maybe again after gaining length, it should be fun to watch though.
One question! It's okay to comb under running water or w/ con before air drying for pics right? Thanks you guys!

I would say a very thick and lush 4a :)

Cool beans! Sorry for pestering you guys, I'm just anxious to know what I might be working with before doing the bc. Hopefully my boredom rearing it's ugly mug will help someone a little :spinning:. *off to go fotki stalking!*
