Do you towel scrunch, or use your hands, or do you also use a diffuser? I'm trying to get maximum curliness. Also, what's a good product I can use while scrunching for added definition?
I scrunch my hair when I wear it out in the evenings. I wet my hands first and then apply gel, turn my hair upside down and scrunch gently, then I shake my head for volume and style as necessary. U know adjusting a curl hair and there. When I'm all done, I add coconut oil for shine and maybe shake some more. U will definitely get excellent curl formation and hold.
I put water in my hands because the gel can be sticky and the hair can stick to your hands. It also reduces the crunch factor. U may want to try aloe vera gel or an alcohol free gel plus it's better for your hair.
I've also been experimenting with my glycerine cocktail. Distileld water and glycerine. I use 3 parts water to 1 part glycerine and spritz. I get really glossy looking hair with nice sculpted waves. U may want to adjust the glycerine to how u see fit. As soon as I get a hold of some aloe vera gel, I want to add that in there along with some epsom salts. I hear the effect is supposed to be somwehere akin to Aveda Humectant Pomade which is super duper expenisive!!
You can try John Frieda Dream Curls; it works pretty well as long as you use a serum or some kind of de-frizzer underneath it. (like Kiehl's Silk Groom; that works very well).
Actually you don't even have to scrunch when you use this. You just let it dry & it will dry wavy.

I use the Dream Curls too (I see you made it work Lindy!) and I scrunch a little only when it's about 90% dry.

Yep I did, Tracy!! (Thanks to your detailed instructions!!
) It didn't come out as nice as yours does (you've got some real nice natural curls goin on there!! ) but it came out looking decent enough to wear out in public (that's saying A LOT!!!

Hmm, I never heard of this until u mentioned it Lindy. I gotta get my hands on some!! Could u post the ingredients?
Yesterday I scrunched using my hands with Sebastion Wet...then once it dried I scrunched again with some serum to help remove the 'crunch' from the Wet...and my hair was super curly and very defined.

SC, the next time u "scrunch" make sure to post a pic of it in your album
I had a braid out in my hair yesterday. So I got bored with it, and before I went to bed last night, I wet my hair, scrunched til it was curly, and then piled all of it at the top of my head and pinned it down randomly into a messy pile-up. Then, I sprayed more water on the messy pile-up, covered my hair, and went to sleep. This morning when I took the pins down, my hair was very curly, and no scrunching was needed, but I did wet it some more and scrunch with Motions moisturizer. This is the best my curls have looked in a looooong while.
I use a thick conditoner like intensive blends balm by herbal essence leave it in scrunch { i find it forms more curls that way } and leave to air dry scrunch when needed use a leave in spray and spray when needed it adds moisture all day to your hair perfect summer style and protective style this lasts for 3 -4 days then i conditoner wash again for a fresh style.

I'm definately going to try this next week after my conditioning rinse....Does this work well on relaxed hair...

It works pretty well. You can check out the last few pics in my hair album and judge for yourself!!
Like I said, I was able to go out in public, at least!! I wouldn't say it's my favorite style, but it's nice & easy for days when you don't want to wear a bun, and don't want to bother with twists or braids.
CaramelKiss, I'll post the ingredients when I get home tonight, unless I can find them online somewhere before then.

...and also...how do you maintain the style?
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to admit, it's a bit hard to maintain beyond the first day. The day after I did it, I put in some Loreal Unfrizz Taming Cream, then sprayed my hair with the Dream Curls again, it was fine while it was wet, but it dried hard. I ended up doing a condition wash that night.
Also, I definitely find that the results are 100% better when you wash your hair in the morning and wear the style throughout the day, as opposed to doing all this in the evening and sleeping on it. I haven't had success with that at all.
My curls get mashed overnight generally and I have to do the work all over again the next day, but the pile-up really helped. I'm going to try it again tonight before I'll know for sure.
