Any Protein Sensitive Ladies Using OCT/MT?

Yup. I apply MT directly to my scalp daily, and DC twice a week. As long as I keep my DC's consistent, I'm fine. As soon as I start to slack on them though, I'll see a slight increase in breakage.
Basically, it makes my hair even more demanding of moisture than it was before. Stock up on your favorite DC, is all I'm gonna say. :yep:

ETA: I mix my MT with castor oil, vit. E oil, SAA and Honeyquat. I'm about to switch to a simpler mix, though, with just castor oil and emu oil, and maaayyyybbbe a little HQ. I haven't decided for certain yet - I've got at least a month/2 months worth of my current mix to get through.

Thanks JK...do you think it would be effective if I used it once a week after a wash...like a treatment? My schedule is so demanding that I rarely get to wash more than once a week lately.

I got mine earlier this week and was wondering the same thing. I haven't started using it yet and *almost* thought about giving it away because of my protein overload anxiety.

I do. If you mean protein sensitive as in it only takes a little too put you in overload then yeah, thats me.

I do mine a couple of different ways. One of my favorite ways to do it is massage it into my scalp the day before I wash and let it sit over night. When I have a lot of newgrowth and the tangles start to really set it, I will go back through and add moisturizing conditioner to the root area and let it sit overnight as well. Then after I wash, deep condition, roller set etc... I massage a little back into my roots. I then chill out until I have to wash again and then I repeat this whole process. For me, this is the best way to keep as much contact (time wise) as possible without overloading my hair with product since my hair is easily weighted down or overloading with protein.

Honestly, I don't know. It depends on what you are using it for. I'm using it mainly for the growth, and secondly for the fabulous results it has on my hair (stronger/softer/thicker). I find that the more often I use it, the faster the growth. So, if you are going for increased growth, using it once a week most likely won't give you that, at least not quickly.
If you want to use it as a protein treatment on the length of your hair, I think that once a week is way to much.
If you are thinking about applying it once, and just leaving it on your scalp all week - hrm, I don't know. I really don't. That might work well, but I don't think I know of anyone else just applying once a week and being done.

Give it to me!!!

Seriously though, if you are worried about protein overload, you just have to a) drop other protein products and b) up your DC's and c) keep a close eye on your hair.

Thanks Gym...so if I understand correctly, you basically apply it the night before wash, wash and style as usual, reapply and leave it on all week...until the night before you wash then you do it all over again...

That's along the lines of what I wanna do. :yep:

You use OCT or MT? What kind of results have you seen with this regimen?

I want to use it just to see if it gives me any additional boost in growth. My hair is doing well...I don't want a setback.

Yep. That is exactly what I do. I have used both with good results. When I do it consistently without fail, I see nearly double the growth rate.

 WHAT!!!??? Double? Seriously?

Put it like this....I used it semi consistently for a full 10 weeks. When I relaxed, I cut a full inch off but still had a little more than an inch and a half of progress. It normally takes me 2 months to get a full 1/2 inch of growth. I looked 12 weeks post at 8 weeks. I know some people say that their rate goes back and forth with this product, like some months they see tons of growth and then others they don't. My hair seems to grow thicker and then longer with this product. It look a month before I started to see major length increases but I saw thickness increases very quickly.

Wow...that's remarkable. I'm getting eager to try it.

You just have to be patient. I was like okay, I don't really see anything for about 2 months but when I relaxed, I could see it. I still get faster growth but its not as fast this time around. It still got thicker and stronger. I am hoping that these next three months gives me more of a burst. I think my hair goes back and forth as with some of the other ladies. I don't see any major length changes until I relax anyway so just commit to doing a full 3-4 months and a relaxer to then decide if you are going to stick it out.

Thanks for the advice....last question. Do you pre-oil your scalp/mix it with oil or do you just apply straight?
