I know it can be a lot of manipulation and can be bad for you if you have problems with tangles but, do any of you do this frequently? Im not saying like every other day or so, Im saying wearing roller sets more than wearing it curly. Tell me about your experience.

ETA: how do you get smooth ends? Which rollers do you use?

Im 90% natural (transitioning) and I rollerset sometimes once a week... I havent been able to tell if its hindered progress or not, but i like to keep my hair stretched out... So for me its either rollersets or 2 strand twistouts...

I do it once a week. As long as my hair is detangled well I dont get breakage nor is there a alot of manipulation involved. Wearing wng's was more manipulation because I had to comb my hair everyother day. Now that I wear rollersets and straighten, I can go up to a week without combing.

I do a lot of flexi rod and perm rod sets... I do it every other weekend. It usually only lasts for the weekend and then I'm back to daily co-washing. I sleep horribly I only do it cuz I get bored with wet bunning. I don't really wear wash and go's... I think that would be more manipulation because when I sleep it gets crazy and when I'm ready to wash again detangling can be hellish.

Judging from your signature, thats GREAT progress to me!

I do a pony tail rollerset every week. I used to do full rollersets every week, but I get wayyyy too much breakage. Pony tail rollersets are perfect! I just blow out the roots on cool with my blow dryer and I have perfectly straight hair. Better than flat ironing even...

Can you elaborate on this a little more...how many ponies do you make...how many rollers do you use....what leave-ins, settling lotions, etc??

I would like this as an option...Thanks in advance.

I try to rollerset every other week. It helps me with breakage because if I leave my hair curly too long it will start getting tangled and I have to rip knots out.

I use the magnetic rollers. I don't have trouble getting my ends smooth the rollers make it smooth. I just flat iron my roots.

Hey no problem! I wash and condition my hair in four sections. I split these four sections in two so I have 8 ponytails when I'm done. I use the small rubber bands and I cut them off when I'm done (Poka does this too). Before I rollerset, I use Giovanni Direct Leave In and the GVP version of Paul Mitchell The Conditioner. I also use a small amount of Chi Silk Infusion as a heat protectant and serum. In my spray bottle is Giovanni Direct Leave In diluted with distilled water. After I have rolled my ponytails up I sit under my soft bonnet dryer attachment for about 30 mins to an hour (depends on whether or not my roomate has made it back in) then I go to sleep with the rollers in my head. The next morning they still may be a little damp so I get back under the dryer for about 30 mins. I take all of the rollers out. Starting at the back, I cut off the rubberband on one ponytail and I use my spray bottle to wet the roots. I use my denman to create tension and proceed to blow dry the roots on cool. It takes longer to dry the roots on cool so if you don't want to wait you can use the warm setting. I repeat until my whole head is done. If you have anymore questions feel free to PM me. Oh, and I don't use setting lotion at all. HTH!

Love your hair:yep:

I do rollersets during the winter months. I haven't had any breakage at all. I make sure that my ends are smooth on magnetic rollers and I flat iron my roots too, like Natural Glow. Can't do too many curls in the winter.

Oils are helping me out alot since I started using them now. I can't imagine not using them:yep:

I have been rollersetting once a week since it got cold. I do a ponytail rollerset with the mesh rollers. I dont think I am doing any more manipulation with the roller set than with wet bunning. The only more manipulation I can see with rollersetting is detangling with the fine tooth comb. But I detangle with my fingers, then the wide tooth comb, then the medium size comb and finally the fine tooth comb. I take my time and try to be very careful when combing.

Although I bought my beloved FHI runway - I am going to start Rollersetting this year. I am exhausted from detangling and twisting and stuff!!!! :nono:

It is time...............
