Ok so it is very seldom that i find anybody from my neck of the woods on these hair boards. This is a pretty big board and i figured i might come across somebody.

I am looking for a place where i can start buying my stuff from as opposed to getting it shipped.

One main thing is JBCO. If any knows where i can find that on the ground PLEASE let me know. Here are some more:

  • Pure unrefined shea butter
  • Pure coco butter
  • JAMILIA Henna
  • Oils such as wheat germ and jojoba oil
  • Aubreu's Organics Honeysuckle Rose
and so on and so forth. That's all i can think of off the top of my head right now but if anybody is from here PLEASE chime in...

Have you tried Whole Foods? I get most of my products shipped, but Whole Foods carries oils and Aubrey's or maybe it's Giovanni I can't really remember. You can find the shea butter from some of the African stores on Broad I believe.

Do you know if its pure unrefined shea butter? Cuz that's what i need

Last time I checked Wholefoods carried refined shea butter (white, no nutty scent)

The hair store on Washington and broad has the unredined shea. (the one in the tub that's yellow). The whole foods on vets has the aohsr. That's all I know. There is an international food store in metairie. They have a lot of the oils, bit so does whole foods. They did have hesh ayurvedic stuff.

I'm just throwing this out there, but perhaps the vendors in the french market? I was planning a trip there to see what they have myself.

Yeah, it's somewhere near Intercontinental Blvd and Vets

Even though you dont know any, its still nice to know some people in my area. Maybe we can do a natural hair meetup one day!

That sounds great, we had one in Dec. 08 uptown and only 3 people showed up including myself. Hopefully we can get more to come out.

There was one in january too via the curly nikki forums. i know a bunch of new orleans naturals there.

Girl i frequent them all! Curlynikki's, hairlista, naturallycurly, and this one. The only one that i don't go to is Nappturality. For some reason the look of that board isn't appealn to me

im from and live in the city.. i only know of whole foods and this place thats supposed to carry natural items. Ive heard someone mention this place on the board. Forgot the name, but its out in metaire, off of severn i believe. It may help to google map it.

UPDATE! So to all you new orleanians, i found some pure unrefined shea butter in the french market if you were looking for it

OOoo I'm going to have to check out the French Market for some goodies.

Whole Foods on Vets had some unrefined shea butter, but it was really expensive. Alaffia brand, about 14 bucks for 4 ounces... Eeek!

I just ordered some online, but I'll be sure to check out the Quarters when I run low.
