I have really been a bad girl when it come to my hair. I have been going to get it "styled" lately because I just couldnt take not looking fashionable anymore. Disclaimer: Not because Im natural I cant look fashionable, but my length limits my styles.. Anywho, so I've been going to the salon getting it pressed and ponytailed, and spritz and alll that stuff I know is bad for me..yeah I know..I asked for it now.
Outside of that, I have been experiencing horrible shedding which I dont know what the prob is.. I just shed like crazy. So, now my hair looks super thin, and the ends look a mess.
I'm really in need of ANOTHER BIG CHOP, and starting from scratch. But, I feel like I just wanna say F it get me a nice tapered TWA, and get a texterizer:ohwell:
Im frustrated and dont know what to do..
Any advice? Anyone been down this road before? How did you handle BC'ing AGAIN?

ME!!

I'm sure you already know my story about the stove hot comb damage... :Blush2: I went from 3.5" to less than 1/2 an inch....

But to answer your question about how I handled the 2nd BC... I was a lil disappointed but I kept in mind that my hair was going to grow back anyway. Plus, during my transition, I used heat on my new growth so doing the 2nd BC got rid of any potential damaged new growth, scab hair, and relaxed ends that I may not have cut off. ;)

 PoorBear, I knew you would be one that would respond, because I remember reading about your experience. Its just disheartening to know that we both BC'ed around the same time and your hair is THRIVING, while I'm taking steps backwards:cry: :wallbash:

awww honeycomb, don't cry! :( Everything is going to be alright. We all have ups and downs in our journeys to long healthy hair. I remember a post from FlowerHair where she said to "stop doing whatever you are doing that harms your hair." That stuck with me ever since. Even after growing my hair out, I tried some things that wasn't really good for my hair (frequent co-washing and dry combing for almost 2 weeks straight so I could wear my favorite stretched out afro puff!). Now, I'm keeping my hair protected and babied up so it can retain hair length.

If you need any help or advice, you have me and the LHCF crew behind your back! ;)

Best wishes to you and your hair! :)

How about skipping out on the Big Chop for right now and try DC, TLC, and less manipulation for a while and see if the hair starts getting back on track. Sorry I'm not a BChopper but just wanted to throw that out there.

Thanx BWE for the advice. The problem is, I know from past experience holding on to damaged ends will further ward off any progress. I'm thinking I can salvage a few inches, and not have a really TWA.

Do what you gotta do...I did it too :yep:. My hair wasnt damaged..but back when I did chop I thought it was :( Im Ends obessed. I cut about 4-5 in. Sept and now its growing back slowly but surely. You have a nice face and so the TWA would look great on you. Good Luck on your decision.

Nice face? You think so? I think my face is sooo fat for short hair, but I get told I should wear my hair short all the time. I never know whether or not to take the advice because "they" feel my efforts to grow long hair is in vain, or because they actually feel that way.

ETA: Whats that on your hair Ayeshia?

no I think short hair looks good on you...I wouldnt tell you that if I thought otherwise  But like you said you might not have to cut it all the way back.

Oh and thats condiotioner on my hair...thats the only way I can show my length without it shrinking back up 2 seconds later. Looks werid but it works

what kind of conditioner is that? will a cheap conditioner like vo5 or suave work?
sorry to high jack...but the only way suave can stretch my hair is if I use the entire bottle :nono:. So I use Cholesterol instead since its thicker. In this Pic, its lekairs.

Girl please I'm THERE! I live there, breath there, sleep there EVERYTHING!

I had been getting my hair pressed and curling it and my natural hair was hard and breaking and shedding in golf ball sized puffs. everytime I washed or styled or whatever.

So that made my natural texture change and it looked like I had a half a$$ed perm. I hated it and didn't know what to do with it. So I permed.

Got myself a phytorelaxer and decided to rejoin the permies and stated that I would go natural once my hair reached my waist length permed.

NOW, I want it all back. I'm lazy when it comes to my hair. I don't like to do rollersets, I don't have the funds to get it done, I could do it myself but I don't feel like it and besides it never turns out right and my hair started to look thin and could not hold a curl. I was devestated!

I'm going natural again (for the third time) and I've decided that I just can't use heat on my hair. No matter how little I use it, my hair breaks off. I can't let it get dry even for a little bit. It gets brittle and breaks off. I'm not all that sure what to do with it now. I'm guessing as I go along. Moisturizing is a MAJOR issue with me. How the hell do I keep it soft all the time???????

I would like to just hide it and sport a lacefront or sewn in until my hair gets to bsl.

This is my third (or fourth) and final time going natural. My absolute dream is to have it all natural with shrinkage at waist length.

So yeah, I am where you are now. I'm doing twist outs and ponytails now. But I'm getting so sick of those.

Great idea about showing length that way. I always thought that you had to blowdry it to death and straighten it to ge the length. Good idea!

I had my first proper BC Dec 05 when i first discovered this forum. i started taking supplements and taking care of my hair & it started growing faster than ever before. My downfall was over steaming. I was DCing in the steam room like atleast 2ce a week without covering my hair with a towel and the heat did major damage to my hair. Silly me i thot my natural hair was strong enuf to take the heat. At times i used a plastic cap but i don't think that was sufficient. (i've learnt that a damp towel is best)

My hair was split and broken all over the place and could see a 2knots in a single strand. I had extreme breakage, my shoulders were covered in hair after coming. Some strands were split in like 3 places believe it or not, i was heartbroken. I think i was guilty of over coming the hair whilst wet as well. I came to the conclusion i had to cut it all off and start again which i did 1/07/07. I went from 3inches(i.e shrinkage length) to half an inch if not less than.

This time around, less combing and no heat exposure, you live and learn.

FAT? Girl your face is beautiful in all it's fullness. Hold your head high and don't let anyone tell you different. I'm sorry that you had a setback, but that's all it is. Now you know better and can keep growing. Show that face confidence girl and stop all this sniveling before I pinch you.
