Any destination weddings for 2014?

I'm not planning one for any time soon. :look: but I want one its just I feel like the couple should cover expenses for a destination wedding and I know that severely limits the guest list. I tried looking up prices to rent private jets but sheesh

I had a destination wedding last Oct and the best piece of advice I would give is DEF know beforehand how many guests will attend. In my case we had underestimated the amount of guests who would attend so our original head count was doubled. I had 76 guests and my wedding expenses were equivalent to having a nice NYC wedding for approx 150 ppl due to the amount of guests. Needless to say we did go over budget (thank God for my Dad). All in all I wouldn't change anything bc we got a lot back in wedding gifts, etc. Oh and having a destination wedding can lead to some epic photo ops (especially if you make use of the overall beauty of your location and not limit yourself to just the resort).

Do people who have destination weddings expect wedding gifts? I kinda think my gift is my presence, but I just wanted to see what you ladies think.

One of my besties had his wedding in Jamaica. My presence was my gift. That trip was expensive.

At some point I plan to send him some champagne from my company. I've just been lazy.

i wouldn't mind having a destination wedding but everyone i know is so damn broke.

I'm looking into a destination wedding.... Wonder if I should get a Villa and have it on the property vs the hotel...
