I have been wanting to get a weave so I won't have to manipulate my hair that often but I would still like to wash it. I came across a beverly johnson wigs and thought about getting one I would wash my hair regularly but I would leave my hair in braids so I can extend my relaxer. Has anyone else done this so they dont have to deal with their hair? I would take it off at night of course but I was wondering if anyone has any advice on this. I have done a search and have not found anything that exactly answerd my question.

I love wigs. A couple years ago my hair was so damaged and short that there was nothing I could do with it. I tried weaves for awhile but they are so expensive and harmful to your hair. I platted up what was left of my real hair and started wearing wigs. At first, I was embarrassed because I always associated wigs with old ladies. But when I went to the wig shop, I saw people of all ages in there looking and having a great time picking out wigs. Wigs last a long time if you care for it right. And if you put it on right, it fits so snug and comfortably on your head. NOBODY knew for the first year and a half that I was wearing one until my Mom blabbed to my sister in law. She was genuinely shocked. I think there are ALOT of women out there who wear wigs and you can't even tell that they are wearing one. As you can tell, I am a HUGE wig advocate. I'm surprised that people choose weaves over wigs.

I would have cut off all of my relaxed hair and worn a wig until my real hair reached a comfortable length. But I couldn't find any kinky/nappy ones that looked natural. Even the human hair ones looked "wiggy" to me. I bought three online and I returned two of them.

I kept the headband wig, but I haven't worn it yet...

I LOVE MY WIGS!!!

I wear them everyday. I dye and wrap each wig that I purchase doing that makes them look even more natural.

Diamond if you do decide to get one make sure you buy the thinning out scissors to avoid the "WIGGY" look.

I've worn wigs and I love them. They are a great way to change up your style or see how a particular cut can look on you before you commit to it.

My mother was wearing a wig that NO ONE thought was a wig. There are some very pretty ones out there that look very realistic.

I wear wigs all the time and I love them.I wore wigs when my
hair was damaged from a weave.
I usally buy the human hair wigs for a more natural look.
My co-workers cant even tell that I am wearing a wig they
think its a 27 step ponytail.

I just started wearing a wig last week and I love it! I am planning on wearing it as my protective style while I transition. I may wear them after that. My mother-in-law owns a shop and I had never been there looking until last week. So much time wasted!

Your mother-in-law owns a wig shop? Girl, you got the hookup!

I also love wigs! At the little beauty supply shops where I live, you can always find some realistic-looking wigs for very low prices. I wash & condition my hair as usual. I massage my scalp, moisturize every day, and sleep with a satin scarf. In the morning, it takes less than 2 minutes to put on the wig, and that's it!

Wig blues

In my previous post I said that I got my wig. Well, it doe nto look right. I hate it. I think my head is too big. The color is wrong for my complextion and the style looks wrong for me. I guess back to the drawing board.

Re: Wig blues

I'm sorry to hear that. Did you order if online or from a store? Will they give you a refund? Color selection for your complexion is very important.

Re: Wig blues

I can get a refund or change the color. I dont know what I'm gonna do. I think that I will try another color and then if that doesnt work I'll just be a braid out bun wearin fool

Re: Wig blues

I am a senior in high school and I was having reservations about wearing a wig because it is for "old people". One day I went to the beauty supply store to buy some hair products. I ended up trying on some wigs and fell in love with a medium length razored wig. needless to say, I bought the wig with the natural part and I rock it like its mine. I can wash and condition my hair every night w/out worrying about how I can get my two-textured hair to cooperate the next morning. My synthetic wig (it looks like human hair) is layered with a natural looking part in the middle. Plenty of people have asked me who did your hair. I tell them its a wig and they can't believe it. I'm liking my wig right now while transitioning- it was so cheap-$32.00. I'll probably buy another one eventually since the hair is synthetic. It's going to take a while to transition into a length that I am comfortable with. Wigs are no hassle hairdo. You should go to the beauty supply store and just try on different wigs to get a feel for what you like. Look at it this way, It is not permanent. PS. Real wigs (human hair) are very costly, but they last.

Re: Wig blues

I did that today. I just went to the hair store and I started trying on wigs but they did not look right. I got my beverly johnson wig off the internet for $63. That seems like alot but compared to $100 its fine by me. I have had quick weaves before that were synthetic but when I wore them they became soooooo tangled that when I went to comb it out knots started to come with it.

I am going to return my wig and get another one. I will try that before I give up completely. The next one that I am getting is human hair and its $36

so I will see how that goes. Thanx for the input Tlisa86.

Re: Wig blues

I got a quick weave today $35.00 human hair. It has a clip in the front and a clip in the back. I comb my hair out in the front and on the sides. At a local BSS.
