Another moisture question

How can you tell if your hair has enough or too much moisture? Reason I ask is because after sliding my hand down my ponytail, my hand is extra shiny. Does that mean I have too much moisturizer/oil in my hair?

Sorry if this is a duplicate thread but I couldn't find the original if in fact there is one.

You can do a strand test. Next time you wash yoru hair, after you shampoo, before conditioning, either pluck a strand of hair, or use a fresh clean brush or comb, comb your hair to get a strand. if it stretches easily, and repeatedly, you are getting enough moisture, in adn out. if it snaps and breaks, your not. You can even do this w/ hair from your brush. I know when I look at my brush and do this, ever since I cut off the blonde, my hair wet or dry has super stretch. I also drink my body weight in water daily, adn take prenatal vitamans. I believe that realy helps. I do protective styling, and I knwo what products my hair likes. good luck to you

eta: yes if the hand is shiney, you were a little heavy handed on the product. Just try to use less next time, or do a rinse w/ 2 tbls conditioner to 24 oz water, it will help :)

It's not good for hair to be super-strechy. If my hair is *too* stretchy, I do a light protein.

I'm not sure if it's too stretchy. What would that mean if it's too stretchy?
