I just wasted three hours of my life that I will never get back!. I had an appointment at 1 and at 4:00 i just couldnt take it anymore and I left. How you going tell me to come at one ( I beat her there) and theres already two people in front of me. If you had told me that there was two people in front of me and its first come first serve on Tuesday when i called I would have never even bothered. That is so disrespecful and unprofessional!!!!!! I really wanted my hair done but that was just too much and I am utterly disgusted.. She kept me there by saying I'll be right with you and I was entertained by people watching and the random conversations. I am such a non confrentational person but I really wanted to curse her out for that mess, instead I just walked out. She will never see me again!

I am sorry but I just had to vent, I just wasted my day off and I STILL have to find someone to do my hair! I dont like going to the salon because it takes so long but today took the cake and I REALLY wanted my hair done.

That is common where I am from...:look:

Sorry to hear that. I can understand your frustation.

So sorry hunny bun....
I guess this one of the other resons - I have given up on stylists.

 you will be there for a week.....

This happened to me 3 years ago and it is why I haven't returned to the salon! My hairdresser who kept my hair looking GOOD had me waiting for 4 hours- I hadn't been to the bowl or anything. I was just sitting there with an aching back and a numb bum :moon: from sitting on an uncomfortable couch. I gave her a chance and went back like 2 months later and she had the nerve to ask me, "Why did you leave last time? Did something come up?"

This is why I haven't been to a stylist in about 5 years. Just for this very reason.

I'm sorry. I know how you feel.

I.would.not.have.waited.that.long.

I have specifically made appointments saying "What time should I come, because I don't want to wait". If I see I am there 30 plus minutes. I bounce.

This happened to me with 2 stylists of 2 different salons. One of them I complained to the salon owner about, and she cleaned up her act real quick. The other one, I like her better, just got worse and worse. :perplexed It was just me making a fool out of myself sitting on a couch 5 hrs after my appointment started and 1.5 hrs after my stylist finally arrived. :wallbash: It is so disrespectful. But I know what you mean when you say you have to get your hair did.

Wow!
There are alot of us out there!!!

Too expensive - Takes too long - scissors happy - unprofessional at times.....

Sheesh!!!!!

What really is the point????:perplexed

This happened to me when I was younger. I was set on getting my hair braided and saved money and bought the special supplies. I came at 10...at 11:30 Im still sitting there. I had to give an irritated look for her to hop to it. Why make appointments then if your not going to be on the ball?
I hate to say it, but this crap mostly happens in black salons...we have got to step up our game people!

Yup - let's not get started on Braid Salons.

I have gone where the braider did not show up.

That taught me a lesson or two. Now - no one really gets my money.

These people put themselves out of business!

Sorry...been there. That was one of the last straws with stylists and I gave up and don't plan to go back any time soon. :nono: After having you wait for an hour, I think your services should be free...like with pizza delivery.

One lady my momz used to take me and my sis to when we were younger...by the time you got a wash and set, you would have been up in there for like 8 hours, no joke!

That's ONE of the MANY reasons I don't get my hair "done" professionally!

Oh, see, hell nawh. I'm good to bring a book with me so I can entertain myself whereever I go - but (and I read fast) my rule is - and I don't care WHERE I'm at (unless the book is really good, and I don't have a damn thing else to do that day) once I've gotten through 100 pages - I'm bouncing.

Less if the books ends before that.

Hells.

Nawh.

That's BEYOND unprofessional. And then they want MY hard earned money after acting like that, when I had to be ON TIME to earn the money I'm about to give them?

Heeeeellllllls Nawh.

Yeah! But at least the stylist didn't get a chance to wash your hair and then "sit you aside." Knowing that once your hair is washed you probably stay.

My sister-in-law used this trick a lot. Even to point of leaving the salon and going to lunch. She would say "they will wait!"

I can't believe some of these stylist. Have they forgotten that you are paying for a service. I think if more people would just walk out they wouldnt pull this crap all the time. I went to a high end salon in my area the last week and had to wait an hour for a 15 min consult that the girl did in the lobby :nono:. I could not beleive it! Its funny, but I have had better service at the Holiday Hair!

lol, My stylist does this. But she has grew my hair so much, that i keep going. I don't know why they call you knowing they have other people there that they haven't started on. It gets aggravating after a while.

This is why I've stayed away from salons for 6 months and I don't plan on ever going back to one. I hated being in there for hours and spending a great deal of time just sitting there reading a book or magazine after magazine, waiting for the stylist.

It's so nice to wake up on Saturday morning knowing that I won't spend hours in a salon, or to leave work knowing that I'm not on my way to get my hair done.

That is absolutely ridiculous. I admire your patience, because I have no tolerance for that sort of nonsense. If they can't be professional, they don't deserve my hard-earned money.

Yes!!! I had a stylist who was late all the time. I was her first client and I beat her there. The thing was, my appointment was at 9:00am. It's not like it was at 6:00 am! I think that is so tacky and unprofessional. You should be in that shop, ready to do business BEFORE your clients get there! UGH!!! That burns me up!

This happened to me just a few months ago and it was the reason I decided to learn to do my own hair. I made a app. with the stylist to do my hair at 10 am. I came early and she never even showed up. I waited until 4pm because I wanted my hair done so bad. I went home with my nappy dry head and cried. I had just taken out some braids so you know my head was looking jacked up. I'm non confrontational too. So when my YOUNGER sister seen me crying she went and had a talk with the stylist. However I must say that one of the other stylist was very sweet. I took my mother there to get a quick weave for her sister's funeral. The stylist was so sweet and caring and had gorgeous hair.

I remember those days I am so glad that I do not have to deal with waiting all day anymore. The worst part is, the stylist would never be like "sorry to keep you waiting." I think they continue to do this because no one says anything to them. We just get up and leave. I guess they don't put two and two together.

Wow, I am so sorry that happened. Did you or any of the other stylists there have her home/cell phone#? She must have forgotten about the appt (which is no excuse). I totally understand about being in a bind when you take braids down. What was the outcome of the discussion between the stylist and your sis?

see that is the reason im now a diyer when i used to get my hair braided every 3 months i would be kept waiting for ages and they would start on your hair and then leave you there so that you are trapped in that salon :nono: i only got my hair relaxed once in a salon on virgin hair, when i went in for a retouch another lady's hair was being done and there was some serious over lapping so i made an excuse and took my butt out of there.

 Ditto.

OP, I feel your pain. I've only had one stylist ever start and finish my hair in a reasonable time by not overbooking.

I don't know what it is with stylists doing that, but it is frustrating to say the least.

My sister has a bit of a aggressive personality, lol. I never saw the lady and I don't know what she looks like or if she even still works there. The other stylists called her several times to make sure was coming in, but she never did. I wanted to go there because the place is within walking distance. Previously I had a stylist and I was getting my hair done twice a week for over a year. My hair never grew and shed so much. Then I wanted some highlights and the lady dyed my whole head Ronald McDonald Red. I was like forget this. My aunt had a old male beautician and he grew her hair from about 3 inches to Mid-back length it seemed like in months. When I went to him he broke a comb in my hair and then told me that there was a lot of dead hair in my head that hadn't fell out yet. He got a metal comb and tortured me with it. When I left my hair was broken out in several places. He had made me a center part and all along the part you could see tiny 4 cm hairs.

Kudos to you for walking out but I would've been gone after 30 minutes. That was totally unacceptable. I hope you are able to find someone to do your hair in a timely manner. Q
