Anchor Method - Rollersetting

I had read that clipping rollers together like this could cause breakage. Wish I could remember where......

Fabulosity- IMO I can get the smooth effect by doing the saran wrap when I take the rollers out. The anchor method is fine, you just have to be super careful with the clips and you end of using on ton of them!!

I use the anchor method every time I rollerset...I just use one long duckbill for each roller...no breakage issues for me. :yep:

I use it, the rollers do not stay for me if I dont'
I have got to try the wrap it, I have been wearing the curls.

I will try her method when I stop protective styling under this wig. I hate roller setting because I can never get smooth roots without having to flatiron afterwards.

UPDATE: I tried her method and it really helped me get smoother ends, it was neater and I didnt need to flat iron afterwards. Plus I got finish faster.

I know in macherieamour's rollerset dvd she said to avoid doing this because it would cause the areas trapped between to be wet, maybe this is what you heard. I didn't hear anything about breakaage though.

I usually watch her make up you tubes, but I was all too hyped when she posted the hair one! I know Ateyaa's more popular (and I still love her to death) but BB is slowly becoming one of my WOC faves on YT.

This is how I set my hair, the only difference is my anchor is the first roller I use is placed at the nape and I work my way up. I never had any breakage issues. The method works especially great when it is about time for a retouch as I am able to straighten out the new growth..the pic in my siggy is 6 1/2 weeks post...

Probably from Ms. Kibibi's fotki. I remember her saying that it caused her breakage, but this is the only way I've ever rollersetted and I never have breakage. Plus I don't have that 100 clips and I always forget to buy more :lachen:

Her hair is beautiful. I wonder if she used setting lotion. I have just been using water but I can't get my curls to hold after I comb/paddle brush them down :look:

Nice videos :yep:

So, what difference do you see in ur hair by using the anchor method vs. the traditional way of rollersestting (re: Marchserie (sic.))

I did mine a bit differently last week, and the curls held perfectly and weren't crunchy.

1. Towel dried my hair (instead of leaving it sopping wet as I had done previously)
2. Applied my leave-in (Nexxus Headdress with a few drops of coconut oil)
3. Sprayed each section before rolling with spray bottle mix (Wen Conditioner, Wen Oil, and water) (thanks to Charmtreese for the recipe)
4. Dried under Pibbs

I was AMAZED. The curls held firm, they weren't crunchy, and when I brushed them down, then shook my head really hard, the curls came back.

Really? I don't have any Wen. You think it might have been the conditioner that weighed it down, causing the curls to hold better :spinning: (weird question, I know)

I'm just trying to figure out why in the salon (years ago), my curls would be bouncy and springy but now it's just "blah".

I've tried using setting lotion but it makes my hair to hard. I'm doing an experiment today and will try conditioner/little setting lotion just on the ends.

Are you natural? I was wondering if the saran wrap would work on my hair.

i clip my rollers together but i don't anchor them all down. i only anchor down the first roller with a regular bobby pin.. not the metal clip. i've never tried starting from the center of my head. i always start the center row from the nape of the neck and go forward. maybe starting at the middle will add more tension, hence straighter roots.

I thought that everyone rollerset like this or used the clips - maybe because it's how I learned to roller set way back in the dawn of time.

What I want more information about is the wrapping after the roller set - I still sport the Diana Ross look, so go for the bun.

ooohhh, so "anchoring" is just clipping the rollers together instead of clipping each individual one at the base of the hair when you rollerset...i have done both ways before...the only difference is for me that it seems the anchoring takes a little longer for me to dry. They both take about the same amount of time for me to roll and the results are the same...

her hair was LOVELY...

I use the anchor method when I don't use magnetic rollers with the snap-ons. I hook my rollers together with rollerpins (long bobby pins) and I never use the duck bill clips.
