So last nite I used Amla as a pre-poo along with coconut oil and then slept with a plastic cap.My hair felt nice to the touch when I pulled the cap off- esp my new growth. Definetly a keeper1

However I wanted to know if any of you take the amla and put into something else that is easier to apply (ie a spray bottle, appilaction bottle)- it's so dang messy in the bottle it comes in. Oh and how do you apply- do you just saturate your whole head, put on by section, etc?

I sometimes put it in an applicator bottle with my other oils and apply it to scalp. I've also added some to my leave-in mixture and put it in a spray bottle. It's good to add to any creamy conditioner.

I put it in an old Wild Growth Hair Oil (applicator-type) bottle. I just used it for the first time recently and I put it on mostly on my scalp, but some on the length too, as an experiment. Except for the fact that it smells like Ultra Sheen, I'd say I like it.

Sometimes I mix it with something like Aubreys GPB and I use this mixing bowl I got from Sally's. It's the one that salons usually use to mix haircolor in. I then use an applicator brush (not sure what the technical term is but the paintbrush like thingie that you can apply a relaxer with) to apply it to my whole head in sections. I apply it like I'm doing a relaxer. When I'm using it straight up, I take it right to the head from the bottle but this way is kind of messy and I think I end up using too much of it because I have less control.

i have mine in a spary bottle(i like it that was because i dont like to drench my hair with it) but i sometime just put my finger in there to use on my scalp.

I don't think the smell is bad either but I can always tell when someone is using it. The scent lingers.

I love my amla oil. I always put mine in a haircoloring nozzle applicator bottle from Sally's. I use about 3 oz and add a few drops of lavendar oil to help the smell. I then put on my hair as a pre poo treatment. Good stuff.

One of my brands of Amla oil came in a bottle with a snout. I section my hair, apply to the scalp and new growth and then massage down and then coat the ends generously. This is the one made with sesame seed oil instead of mineral oil. LOVE IT! I still love Dabur though.

I guess I am a small minority... I love the smell of Amla Oil! erplexed

hmm. never used the powder, I only have the oil.

For amla in powder, use it just as henna:
Make it a paste with warm water and some oil. Then apply on your hair.

I use amla powder, that I bought from http://hennaforhair.com. I let it steep in jojoba,sweet almond oil mix,w/ essential oils. I spray it on when I want. Then I have one w/ oil and water and other stuff. I love them both. The oil I use on my scalp, the other I use to perk up my twists b/c it has water in it. I don't use the Dabur oil on my hair, b/c it has unk stuff init and possibly mineral oil, so I just make my own. You can get .50,$1 spray bottles from wal-mart. The .50 ones are like tiny purse sized mist bottles. Good luck to you! I love the way amla makes my hair feels

Mine is in a color applicator bottle mixed w/ Jojoba oil. I divide my hair into 4 sections and saturate each. Then I put a hot towel over it. When the towel cools, I rinse it with warm water and apply my conditioner.

Oh by the way, the WGHO nozzle seems to fit on the Dabur Amla bottle I have!

I'm sorry about that. Maybe you should just mix it with an ouil, amla can be a little drying indeed.

I have Dabur amla oil ($3.99 16.90z) and amla powder. I use both in my henna mix. I use amla oil as a pre poo in a color app bottle and in between I smooth a little thru my hair. I've made a paste with powder and water and rinsed with Suave condish. It works great for me

Hey Tenderhead, do you find that the amla powder makes your hair darker? I'm thinking about buying some when I order my indigo. Do you get you amla powder locally or online?
