I want to mix Amla powder and water and put it on my newly relaxed hair after I shampoo but before I DC. I am trying to find a way to get my hair to a natural black on relaxer day.

Is this mix ok? If not, do you have any other suggestions?

My last rinse was gone in 2 weeks, but it was summer and I was washing my hair a lot.

I think it's ok to use alma on relaxer day. I'm just not sure it will darken your hair as much as you'd like. It takes me a couple (5) treatments to see even a slight darkening.

Thanks for the reply.

I tested Amla paste a few weeks ago - just water and powder and it did a great job darkening the couple of grays I have around my edges and it did not fade during that period.

I had hennaed with Amla as part of the mix twice in the prior month so maybe that contributed to the darker color.

Anyway, I mixed the water and powder last night & applied it after relaxing and shampooing, but before DCing. I applied it mostly on the roots and took it down the length some, and put amla oil on my ends and wrapped the whole thing in plastic for a couple hours. I love the result. It looks like a dark rinse that has a burgundy tinge on the ends when I'm in the sun. I liked the henna, but I did not like the ketchup coloring it gave to the few grays I have. Now my hair has a more uniform appearance with respect to the color.

As a benefit, it's much softer than it used to be when I would use a semipermanent rinse after a relaxer.
