I just brought Amla oil for the first time and the box says to apply 1-2 tbsp then ideally leave on for an hour and then shampoo. I thought that you were supposed to leave this in not shampoo out. How does everyone here use this oil?

Most people (including myself) apply Amla as a prepoo on the scalp and hair (overnight or for 1-2 hours) and then shampoo out.

I use it as a pre-poo and i use it as a "leave in" oil as well. I mix it with coconut oil, water, a random condish and use it as a spray in.

I use my Amla oil as a prepoo for 30 minutes some ladies leave it in overnight then shampoo the stinky stuff out. My hair has such a beautiful shine.

Well, I bought Dabur Amla Lite oil because I heard people talk about how sticky and/or smelly the regular Amla was. I really like the smell of the Lite version. I use Vatika to prepoo and every once in a while on my scalp, but I use my Amla Lite on my scalp and hair everyday.

I use Amla oil as a prepoo too. I put it in midday and leave it in overnight. And my breakage has almost stopped. Each time it breaks less and less since I've been using it. I use the Amla Oil Lite everyday...more than once. I love the shine, smoothness, and added strength that it gives to my ends.

oooohhhh, I'm going to have to get the Amla Lite. I keep hearing lots of great things about it. I would love to use Amla everyday as a oil, but thought it would be too heavy for my fine hair. I use Hot 6 instead. I do like this as well. I'll drive by my Indian Bazaar to see if they have it in stock yet.

Yes, I think you'll love it and plus it doesn't have such a smell strong as Amla oil. I would love to use Amla everyday too but it is kind of heavy and the scent is sooo strong.

I haven't been able to find the Amla lite, as soon as I do I'll have to try it. I use the Amla oil as a pre poo either overnight or mixed with henna. After my recent touch up, I used it on top of my conditioner and sat under the dryer and it really conditioned my hair. Henna was starting to get a little red on my old ends and the amla helped give a dark tone to my locks.

OK Ladies,

Went to the India Bazaar around the corner from my home and purchased 2 bottles of the Amla Lite. I only saw small bottles and they were $1.99. Will try it later on this week with my condish wash. Can't wait. It does smell good compared to the regular Amla...

Also the saleswoman said she would see if she could get me indigo 'cause they only had the regular henna and the henna to darken hair was compound henna.

I ordered my Amla Lite oil from this website:

I've only seen small bottles of Amla Lite also...well I guess small compared to the big Amla oil bottle I have. Let us know how it works for you.:)

I mix w/ my WGO and just use it as my scalp oil (half and half, in the WGO bottle). When the directions say to rinse it out, they are meaning for "their" folx, not african-americans. Of course if you have "indian hair" you will not want your hair to be oily.

I bought mine for the purpose of strengthening my roots (which is what is says on the bottle), so it does not make sense for me to use it only once a week just to rinse it out in an hour. I need to let it "marinate" in my scalp for a couple days before shampooing or co-washing.

Thanks to everyone who responded but I have one more question. Since the amla lite oil is lighter how long can I leave it on? Also can I use it daily as a hair oil w/o washing it out?

Yes you can use it everyday. I use the amla lite everyday as a hair oil. I don't wash it out and I apply it more than once a day because my hair loooves it.

Thanks GlamourGirl for this and your earlier posts you are beautiful and helpful and have absolutely gorgeous hair, I'm thankful for you and the great ladies on this board I love it here:D :D

I've never used the Amla Lite, can't find it here in San Diego. Been using the Dabur Amla for a little over a year, my hair LOVES it! I don't use it as a prepoo at all, but I do use it almost always when I air dry my hair. After a CO wash, I apply a light leave in (right now i'm using Cantu BreakCure Leave In) to wet hair and seal with the Amla Oil.  It's wonderful, especially for keeping the ends moisturized and strong.

Hi GlamourGirl! You are so gorgeous! :) Just wondering, where do you purchase your Amla Lite? There's two Indian grocery stores near me in Carrollton and they only had the huge bottle of Dabur Amla. I love it, but I also want to try the lite for everyday.
