Amla Oil - Love it or hate it

For those who have tried Amla oil, do you like it or not? I bought it b/c it claimed to be natural (says so on the label), but it's loaded with mineral oil. Also, the smell is rank to me. I had it on overnight and my husband wondered if me son had peed in our bed the next day. The only thing I could smell was that Amla. I thought sarcastically," I might as well use real pee if I'm gonna smell like it". Anyway, right now I'm hatin' on it, but how do you feel? /images/graemlins/love.gif OR /images/graemlins/angry2.gif

I bought it a month ago, I use it kinda often to oil my scalp but I also use peppermint, orange, rosemary, Surge and distilled water as a leave in. Alma also comes in light. I like it because it actually softens my new growth.

I use that new Surge Ultra Max in the tub (it is an aqua green color) this stuff makes my new growth so thick, if it wasn't for the Alma oil I don't know what I would do. The smell is strong, use it lightly !

i just started using amla oil. it does smell bad, but i can feel the tingle on my scalp. i also use surge plus 14 and wild growth oil. so far, i love all three. /images/graemlins/bdance.gif

yeah that stuff stank /images/graemlins/nono.gif but i do like the oil for hot oil treatments. Since I have highlights, i use dabur jasmine oil because the alma oil will darken hair since it has henna.

Yes, the smell is harsh but I put up w. it for my pre poo treatments. I like it! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

/images/graemlins/ohwell.gif is how I feel about it right now. I haven't noticed that many benefits yet (I only use it occasionally), and the smell is kind of annoying. At this point I doubt if I'll repurchase.

I used it back in the day on weaved hair, it was alright. I bought some recently, it was Amla light and I wasn't impressed. The smell isn't as bad w/the Amla light, but it just didn't 'do' anything.

Is there an amla oil made with just coconut (or another natural) oil?

I purchased a bottle of Amla/Brahmi Oil from www.bazaarofindia.com. The base is sesame seed oil. They also sell regular Amla in a sesame seed base. I stopped using it for a "minute" but plan to get back to it this week. Overall I like it! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Question

I prefer amla powder. I don't like the oil because the ones that I've seen usually have mineral oil as the base, it's hard to gauge how much amla powder/extract is actually in the bottle. If I just buy the powder I can make a paste using any oil that I prefer. I also can't stand the smell, it reminds me of old lady perfume.

Re: Question

Lovin the stuff, I got mine from fromnaturewithlove, that Dabur has mineral oil in it, but that stuff is the best oil I ever used, it helped me give up the grease, but about the coconut oil, the amla berries are soaked in coconut oil to extract the oil from the amla berries, so when you get it, it already has coconut oil in it...

Re: Question

I have the Dabur Alma oil and FNWL brand and the FNWL does not smell has bad as the Dabur brand.
I use it for pre hot oil treatments weekly.

Vatika oil has a coconut oil base and contains amla. It is so much better IMO.

Re: Question

Hate the smell, but it works great as a hot oil treatment and reduces hairloss, so its a keeper for me.

Re: Question

I like amla oil although the smell is quite strong. I too sleep with it overnight, on damp hair. It may have mineral oil in it but my hair loves it.
