Usually when I wear my hair curly I let it airdry. It takes AGES it seems, but If I don't have to use heat, and I really don't want to right now, I wont.

BUT

Sometimes if I'm in a rush, which is rare, I will blowdry my hair with a diffuser for about 2-3 minutes, fluff and go!

Im nervous though because I have leave-in conditioner, coconut oil, and castor oil in my hair.

Is this bad? I think I read somewhere on the forum that the oils "cook" and "fry" your hair. Is this what I'm doing?? Otherwise I guess I need to wake up even earlier! *sigh*

I don't think that a diffuser for 2-3 minutes will heat the oil enough to fry/cook your hair. What setting is the blow dryer on? Keeping it on medium or low should help to minimize damage.

Oh Okay thanks! Sometimes I will get impatient and turn the dryer on high. I wont be doing that again! :nono:

Do use heat protectant? Maybe u can try using a heat protectant first and then put the oil on after you blow dry.

I don't actually. Are there any good ones for natural/curly hair??

I use the diffuser all the time when I'm trying to dry my wash n go in the mornings...I honestly believe that the frying of the hair happens when flat ironing or running the comb attachment of the blowdryer thru the hair. The diffuser is like using a hooded dryer IMO.
