I started my healthy hair journey about 2 months ago. Before that, I used to go to the salon to wash my hair but when I went on my HHJ, I decided to wash it myself at home. So far I've been doing great.

To get to the point, I use Pantene Relaxed and Natural Deep Conditioning Mask as a DC. Sometimes my hair seems a little bit dry at the end of my roller set until I moisturise it. I was just wondering if that's normal for a deep conditioner. I ask this because Pantene R&N DC mask is all I know.
I'm tempted to try an alternative DCer but I need one with a lot of slip like R&N plus I live in England so I'm not able to easily access some of the DCs that a lot of you lovely ladies use.

Thanks for your help.

Here's the one I use

Is there a Sally's Beauty Supply in London? If so, try Silk Elements Megasilk Moisture Treatment or Silk Elements Megasilk Olive Moisturizing Treamtment. I love both these.

I love the R&N DC Mask it is by far the best for slip BUT I also use Joice Moisturizing Conditioner and leave it on for a while. I went to CVS today to find the R&N DC by Pantene and all they had was Pantene Pro V Restorative Replenishing Mask. It works just the same! Stick with what works and what u can afford.

I like R&N mask. Do you have any oil you can add to it like avocado or coconut? That may help and if it does you can use it up before buying something else.

There's a small Sally's near me so I'll check tomorrow. But the last time I went there (before my HHJ), there weren't that many things available. They didn't even have Mizani and when I asked, the woman had no idea what that was.

Last week I added 6 drops of olive oil and 1 drop of peppermint oil. I'm think that I should have added more olive oil. Someone said I should try adding Sweet Almond Oil. But this got me thinking, if I have to add all these things to my DC, doesn't that mean that it's not really doing a good job.

Yeah I used Pantene Relaxed & Natural, it was one of my first conditioners, imo Silk Elements blows it out of the water.

Does anyone use Keracare Humecto?

Many people use keracare humecto on this board, it's a staple here. I've never used it though.
But I would recommend keracare restorative masque instead, I've never used that either but it's more of a true deep conditioner and it's also gotten rave reviews. :yep:

I'm not sure what else to recommend, I'm not sure what's available. I've been using silicon mix lately but I'm not sure if that would be available in the UK.

Silk Elements Megasilk Olive Moisturizing Treatment is great at moisturizing, softening, and detangling.

The Pantene Time Renewal Replenishing Mask is great also.

I have jars of both of these at home.

I used Keracare Humecto once or twice, about 2 years ago. I didn't like it but it seems to work for a lot of others.

The R&N does not work for my natural hair the way it did when I was relaxed. I used to buy that stuff in bulk. I have moved on to the Elasta QP DPR-11. My hair loves it. I don't know if you can get it there though. :perplexed

I also recommend Silk Elements Mega Silk Moisturizing Treatment (becareful, there are a few of the Silk Elements items that have similar jars).

About Sally's and Mizani....Sallys doesn't carry that line. I believe because its a salon brand.

About you adding additional ingredients....I do it all the time. I don't think it necessarily means the product is not good, maybe just not moisturizing enough for your hair. Maybe for someone else, it may work fine. But I'm all for being a Mixologist. As long as it all works together for the betterment of your hair, I think you should continue to mix.

But I must say, I mix on the regular, but I found the Silk Elements Mega Silk Moisturizing Treatment required NOTHING! I love that stuff.

I think Patene R&N Deep Conditioning Mask is the same thing as the Pantene Deep Conditioner (also in the jar). A closer inspection of the bottle will show the ingredients are the same...one key difference. Brown bottle to attract brown people. LMAO...but no, seriously.

You may have product buildup, the first thing I would try when my hair is acting up is to clarify and then start from scratch with the moisturizers.

I am able to get this. I was tempted to buy it once but I read the review here and a lot of people said that it doesn't provide a lot of slip.
