I plan on getting my hair relaxed at a Dominican salon on Jan. 31st. I've been going to them for a little over a month & have been pleased so far. However, I'm not familar with the either of the relaxers they use. I was told that I can either use AE or PM. I'll be 16 weeks post by the time I get my perm and I'm going to need something that's going to get my coarse hair straightened. Any suggestions or reviews?

If you don't mind me asking, why wouldn't you use it?

*shrugs* I'm just more comfortable with brands like Motions, Affirm, Design Essentials, etc. etc.

Plus, I don't actually hear of that many women using it (the Paul Mitchell relaxer) like they do Phyto, for instance. The Paul Mitchell one may be a good relaxer but until I hear lots of positive feedback and long-term results, I wouldn't even consider it.

I used to use paul mitchell relaxer..absolutely loved it!! it was the first relaxer i ever used..this was last november, and i stopped using it this dec...i stopped mainly because i just fely like i needed something new..the relaxer kept my hair healthy, doesnt straighten the hair too much, gave it bounce and sheen!

Thanks for responses. Anyone else?
Since I attend Paul Mitchell-The School I can tell you a little about the relaxer.

It has 2 strengths. Regular and Super. The regular is more like a mild relaxer and the super is more like a regular relaxer comparing it to other brands such as affirm and mizani. It has a lot of conditioners in in so it leaves your hair in really good shape. It doesn't get your hair bone straight so if that is what you are expecting this relaxer is not for you. The super strength is used for thick and or coarse hair. The regular is used for color treated or thinner hair types.

I have personally applied this relaxer to many people and the results are great. I like it and have considered using it on myself, or course when I run out of Affirm ;)

For my last relaxer, the stylist used the PM texturizer on me. I like it so far b/c it left a lot of texture but was more manageable.
