I think I might have to break this no heat challenge. I cannot do this anymore! I was trying to twist my hair the other night after washing it- my ends are so bad!!! They knot up at the end while I working my way down from the root.

*When I fingerstyle my hair I can hear my hair come apart with some type of ripping sound. All I know is that its not a good sign. I wanna get a cut because I feel have crazy split ends and theres no point in moisturizing bad ends and continuing this no heat challenge when my hair is only gonna get longer split ends.

So what should I do?
quick salon visit and get at least a trim? and if so a press or a blowout? (I don't want to ruin my up and coming curls  , no but seriously i am concerned about my texture for the sake of my washngo's)

I wonder the same thing sometimes. I haven't had a good trim in a minute and I wonder if having split ends makes it less likely or more preventable for my hair to grow as much as it could (as if split ends were holding my hair down). A trim will help you retain the healthy hair growth you have, right? I wonder what others have to say, but I say get a trim.

Do a S&D mission (self trim) on the splits yourself, don't go back to the heat now cause you just got off it. If you go to the salon now they'll just want to cut it even, in a style and kiss your porgress goodbye.
Your hair needs time, care and moisture, deep conditioning treatments. Don't give up so soon, you can do it. Also what leave ins are you using? oils? on the length and ends. sometimes a twist out is better w/ soft rollers at the ends, nake sure it's not the sponge rollers they suck up moisture from your hair. hth

How do I self trim when in natural state? I can never know whether its straight. Isn't that more dangerous than getting it trimmed professionally? Im still on the CWing but not as frequently. Im using elastas mango butter and shea butter on my hair just to even tame it. I have had an luck with oils for my hair so far. My scalp is not getting much attention. Coconut oil isnt working for me...

This is the same thinking I had...

you can feel and see the splits on natural hair too, but cut as little as possible, cut just above the split or knot. make 4 braids in your hair while wet, check the ends, twist the ends and see which end hairs pop out, or look like there split into 2 ends from 1 strand of hair. go easy with the scissors, very little is all it takes. hth
