So i have done some research on the subject and asked my doctor who said that it should be fine as long as I don't do it often. But I need to know if using a lye relaxer is ok? I know that it's stronger than no-lye. What do you think?

Lye is healthier for your hair but rougher on your scalp. No-lye is easier on your scalp, but will dry your hair out overtime.

As it relates to the baby, I'm not sure. But as it relates to the health of your hair, go with lye, if your scalp can handle it.

I've been using silk elements lye for the last year and my hair loves it. I was just wondering if no-lye was "safer" (if that's possible) while pg.

Yes..you should be fine..I relaxed all through my pregnancy. I "think" alot of concern is when you are double processing or doing those harsh color processing methods (i.e. bleaching, lifting color - depositing a permanent color over the lift, etc)

I used no lye (before I knew any better ) and lye along with semi-permanent colors/rinses.

U may want to incorporate some sort of hair vitamin - now to help offset the post partum shedding that can be - at times - a beast!!
