I've been looking at everyone's album's and I notice that everyone's hair has INCREDIBLE shine..HOW DO YOU DO IT? No matter what I put on my hair it WILL NOT SHINE..My hair is a 4 (as in color) which is a brownish, reddish, blackish color..Do you think that could have anything to do with it? What are you guys using?

Pomade, and oils I would think...my hair only shines when it's straight, I'm not sure why... maybe someone who knows more can help

Serums are great for shine. I just bought some generic Biosilk Silk Therapy from Sally's and my hair is shiny.

LuLu- I have the same issue. I'm 10 weeks post relaxer & my hair wasn't shiny until I used the Biosilk.

yeah, sebastion colourshine's r great!! , i use a little oil on my hair at night, also...WGO, is also great for shine...

Apple cider vinegar, super cold water as last rinse or ice cubes rubbed on hair if you can't stand icy cold water for your final rinse

I dont consider my hair all that shiny, but when it is shiny ots because Ive used EVOO or mango butter on my hair.

I remember reading somewhere that hair itself doesn't shine, it's light reflecting off the hair that gives it the appearance of shine or sheen. Hair shines more when it's straight b/c straight hair allows oils to go all the way down the hair shaft, and straight hair refects light better b/c the light reflects directly off the hair in one direction. When hair is worn curly or with texture, oil has to coil w/ the hair strands, and work its way down the hair shaft. That's why curly hair is often dry, and it's much harder to see the shine in curly hair. Also, because the hair curls and coils in different directions, it doesn't reflect the light evenly from one direction, and therefore doesn't look like it has that much shine. I also read that darker hair naturally reflects more light. That's why when you see people with bone straight hair, especially when it's black (like asian hair) or dark brown, it appears to have lots of shine.

DatJerseyDyme, I have #4 hair too, and it's hard to make it shine b/c of the color (mine is more sandy brown). I agree w/ whoever said to try ACV rinses, and maybe a lightweight shine serum, but stay away from the heavy gooey ones.

Thanks for all of the advice ladies..I have tried oils (WGO) and (H6O) and they don't make my hair shine the way people say they do. I considered using a serum, but I want moisturize my hair twice a day, and couldn't do that with the serum. I ordered HHB from Carol's Daughter, and if I like that, I'll definately order some of the Hair Honey. I'm a little scared to try the ACV rinses, but I'll give it a shot when I start rollersetting again.

THANKS AGAIN LADIES!

have you tried a shine spray? try design essentials reflections shine spray or elucence serious shining spray. Those give great shine without weighing the hair down. They are a little expensive but they are worth every penny.

DatJerseyGirl, I suggest IC hair Polisher and what's the password for u photo album. I was trying to see ur pics

the pw is hair2there

I tried to put it in my sig..but it said I had too many characters..

I have Smooth 'n Shine hair polisher..do you think that would do the trick? I know that all serums are not created equal.

DJD, get some So Shiny by Samy, Rub a little Amla oil in your hair (a quarter sized amount) or Salerm 21 leave-in. All three give incredible shine.

I have that problem as well. My hair is sandy and it never seems to have much shine. When I try oils and sprays it seems to weigh my hair down.
