Are you happy with it? How healthy is your hair? How straight do you process your hair? Do you believe this is a better choice than No lye? Sorry for all the questions but I have to make a big decision soonishly ( I like that word )... Please help me out, I feel lost :ohwell:.

Affirm, I've officially switched to the mild strength today!!

Sorry I did not see all of the questions...

I do like it, my hair feels conditioned after. I consider my hair healthy. I think it's much better than no lye. When I was using no lye my hair was dry and looked dull.

I'm getting Design Essentials now. I've had Affirm in the past. Both are good. I prefer for my hair to be relaxed pretty straight... but it never is. I don't complain.

I'm 4a and use Phyto Index 1. If I want it totally bone, bone straight, I'll use Index 2, but I've only used that once.

I switched from no-lye to lye a few months ago (after reading one of these threads on lye vs. no-lye ). With no-lye my hair would get straight but it's be so dried out and breaking a lot I'd have to do several days of damage control to get my hair's strength back. I switched to Revlon Realistic Lye (in mild) and my hair does sooo much better now after relaxing. I'm slowly switching to regular strength though b/c the mild doesn't straighten it completely, but my hair is already loving the lye.

I use Vitale Coarse/Super Lye Relaxer. I really like outcome better than what Iwas getting with no-lye. My hair was very dry and always seemingly underprocessed. No it it is softer and straighter.

I do not know about Design Essentials, but I do know that Affirm Regular and MsPortugal's blowout had my hair swangin! I'm back in cornrows now, and am going to make an appointment for this week, we planned on making end of the year updates, so now it will be first of the year pics for comparison to the summer when we hit bra-strap!! :yep:

I believe it is a better choice than no-lye for my hair because after years of no-lye perms and 'stylists' who did not know how to perm hair properly, my hair seems to be in far superior shape. It is straight but not bone straight and it is full of body. You can still see my texture, so it is much more of a texturizer.

Good luck with your choice!

Here is my answer, minus the officially switching part... I have been using it for about a year now...
