Is this safe? This was recommended to me by an African braider but I'm not exactly sure about it. Also. can u wash kanekalon braids? or do they have to be human hair to be washed?Just a couple of questions that will help me a lot. Thank You

One of my co-workers said this is how she plans on cleaning her scalp while her braids are in. I tried to tell her that this was not a good thing, but she wouldn't listen...

Your not supposed to use alchohol!!! Your supposed to use Witch Hazel. Its for soothing the itch and washing the scalp.

Put it on a cotton ball or put it on a q-tip for in between tight parts. Don't just pour it on your scalp.

sweety u can definatly wash yo hair wen u have kanekalon braids in coz thats what i do and i have nothin bad to say about it. u especially have to wash the braids if the sulphur u r using is goin to be the greasy type coz that leads to product build up

I used to use Seabreaze for a scalp cleasing but they tell you to do that because most people don't wash their hair at all while it is braided!

You can use your regular wash regimine but try not to get a lot of conditioners at the roots. This will make it harder to take them out. I just use leave-ins.

Thanks ngaa and dontspeakdefeat.Yjay really helped. But another question, how often can I wash my braids ? Should I wash them as normally as I would my own hair?

Hi, I have those same type of braids you have and I normally wash my hair every two weeks in the shower and do a scalp wash with witch hazel and braid shampoo on my scalp every week. After that I oil my scalp with C. Gray's oil and go. My braids are fine.

I would suggest that you wash it as you normally would. Only instead of putting the shampoo directly on your braids. Put the shampoo in a large cup and fill it 1/2 way with water. Mix this together. Put the braids in large braid sections and pour the shampoo over the braided sections and squeeze through make sure to massage your scalp. It will be much easier to rinse out then. I usually shampoo twice. Make sure you towel squeeze your hair dry. Then follow the shampoo with your favorite leave in conditioner.
