What are yours?

I want to start washing my hair two times per week, but I want to avoid using direct heat. Any tips?

It will come out less poofy if you tame the hair in some way, either rollerset, plats or maybe a twisted ponytail with scarf. For me, rollersetting comes out the nicest.

Banding is my preferred method. I split my hair into hemispheres and use 3 bands/side. I put a magnetic roller w/ cover on the ends, put a scarf on, and let it dry. The ends dry smooth and the length is reasonably stretched while the roots are flat.Works for me.

I also do the scarf method on occasion. The ponytail rollerset works too depending on the intended style.

I usually just put it in a ponytail and let it air dry that way.

I wash my hair at night and by the time I get up it's dry. I either wrap it or use flexi rods. That's it.

I feel when I airdry, my hair comes out hard. I can't really do the ponytail thing because while the front sides of my hair fit in a pony tail, it barely makes itso the scrunci breaks the hair at that point.

I do 4 plaits after I moisturize and seal that section...

- braidouts (with a lot of braids...or just 2 pigtails)
-french braid
-bantu knots (i just do two high pigtails)
-wet bun
-pigtail buns
- half up, half down (in ponytails)

these are all the techniques i do

Bantu twist is how I airdry my hair at night.

Putting in two or four buns works. I know about the hard feeling but as i have moisturised and sealed i now just deal with it and realise thats the way my hair will feel when airdried.

ITA with all above. When I want an easy airdry look I loosely two strand damp hair and pin up.

In the morning I have nice soft waves.

when i air dry i put it back in a ponytail so it drys nice and flat with no poofyness and my ponytail(if u can even call it that) coz im necklength il put a cuple of rollers on there and tie a scarf around them so its secure =] hth

oh yeh i dont tie my pony too tight otherwise id b left with an unsightly line just enough to hold it together

I just put it in a bun, with GVP Leave in Moisturizer and Hairveda Vatika Frosting. I put alot on it, and my ponytail comes out really soft and bouncy. The following days, I use ORS Olive Oil Creme. When I use Palmers Olive Oil Hair Milk, my ponytail is usually a lil harder, but I can contribute that to the Kertain that in it.

I do the EXACT same thing! And yes, it definetly works. It's my "lifestyle regimen".

I dry my hair in a tshirt. I use to air dry my hair and always found my hair was pretty hard after it dried. So now wrap my hair in a tshirt (head wrap style) until my hair is about 90% dry ( a little damp). My hair is soooooooo much softer after doing this.

Ooh thats interesting, how many t-shirts do you use?
Do you squeeze excess before applying your t-shirts?
Thanks

What's banding?

That sounds interesting. With bantu knots, how wet is your hair when you make them? If you do two high pigtails, what does the end result look like? I imagine it would look somewhat similar to a roller set?

Thanks for the responses ladies. Keep 'em coming.

I put my hair in a bunch of medium sized braids after detangling and let them dry that way. Then I either do a braid out or use my fingers to smooth it out and put it in a bun. HTH Q

I do 12 twists and then make them into bantu knots. Out of the shower I wrap my head in a t-shirt to get out the excess water. I moisturize each section with coconut oil and then twist and bantu it. I put my satin bonnet on and take them out in the morning. Since I'm natural, it makes a cute curly fro.
