I'm considering trying this relaxer. Are you ladies pleased with results? Is it drying to the hair? What formula is used? What do you like about it?

Affirm lye mild leaves my hair soft and silky looking no dryness, I had problems when using Affirm fiberguard as it left my hair hard and rigid and very underprocessed which is the reason why i switched.

I used the Affirm mild and I loved it. No burns even though it tingled a bit since I had washed my hair 2 days prior. I'll probably just stick with it from now on.

I am happy to hear this bc I purchase the mild lye with protecto, the 5 n 1 reconstructor and the normalizing poo, i will post my results.

Where do you ladies order from...I am thinking of sticking with AFFIRM but I do not want the no lye that I used this past touch up.

i use affirm sensitive no lye.
been using it for over a year now and i have to say it's one of the best rlxr ever (next to dudleys sensitive). it leaves my hair soft and it's not drying at all.

Thanks you are so helpful. I know I can be a pest....(running to count money so I can order some Affirm) /images/graemlins/weird.gif

I /images/graemlins/love.gif Affirm. Before, I used Mizani and it made my hair flat and lifeless. I always have lots of body with Affirm! I use regular strength and have only had it professionally applied!

Well, I guess I'm the only one whose not that pleased with this product. /images/graemlins/frown.gif I have used the lye normal formula twice and within 2 weeks I look like I need a relaxer. /images/graemlins/wallbash.gif I am strongly considering selling mine and going back to no-lye.

Since I found this forum, i realized that my problem was not the no lye, but the fact that I was not mosturizing my hair properly.

I'm about to sell my 4lb tub of Affirm Fiberguard and purchase Affirm Regular. The Fiberguard is not that great it left my hair underprocessed and dry.

The concensus on this board seems to be that the FiberGuard causes problems. I will be switching to the regular lye Affirm.

Hmmm...I too have been feeling like the Fiberguard was causing my hair to dry out. I read on another post that it's because it's really a texturizer. Don't know if that's a valid statement or not. I was even thinking about going back to no-lye box relaxers. My hair was definitely shiny and soft back then. Now I have no shine unless I flat-iron.

The other problem is on the Sheldezz site, you don't get any information on the different types of relaxers what they do or the type of hair they are for.

I don't think this is because fiberguard is a texturizer, i feel the system is not as conditioning as the original formula. This caused a lot of underprocessing dryness and breakage, so i went over the entire head with original, it was the most sensible decision I made, or else i'd have to transition.

Hey! /images/graemlins/wave.gif

I only left it on for 10 minutes becuase it was corrective nad I ma color treated....When I rinsed it out I got scared becuase it was so much longer I thought i had relaxed...but when I put my leave in it...the shrinkage started. I shoudl have left it is for maybe 5 more miutes becuase my curls are still relatively tight in some places. Can I correct them maybe 6 months from now u think? To answer your questions. For corrective I did 10 mintes.

That always BLOODY happens to me, i always think my hair is straigher than it really is when its first relaxed and a week later the curls start to shrink. Tonya definately wait the SIX MONTHS before correcting please ensure there is no damage, or breakage prior to the corrective, here's a good tip do strand tests to determine the correct timing so you don't overprocess and your more likely to get the textures the way you like it. I usually snip a few strands from my head, if your hair varies in diffrent textures it would require different timing. Curlycurly is so knoweledgeable on this subject, i'm gonna post how i do strand tests on my website later on today. Thanks for answering my questions.

You are very welcome. Guess I will go bother Curly curly now. I was trying to pull up your site but my PC keep freezing!

Tonya you can bother me anytime....i found some info curlycurly gave me..

den1, I snip strands from my head so that I know where on my head they came from (different textures). Since you're only doing one section, you'll already know where they came from. I tape the hair to cardboard and label it with the area from which they came and the start/end time. I apply the relaxer to it, but don't smooth as much as I would if I was doing my head since the extra pressure from smoothing a few strands would be more than I'd be applying to my head. Sometimes I apply it to the entire strand to see what it would do if I wanted to go over the entire strand on my own head. I rinse the strands, neutralize, and condition. Then I air-dry the strands. If it looks like it's not texturized enough, I repeat the process until it looks like what I want. It's more work to do it this way, but I think my hair is worth it. I have previously posted about how I do strand tests. It should show up in a search.

I use the Affirm Fiberguard and haven't had any problems. My stylist puts it in for me. The guy I used to go to applied it first and when I went to this new lady I asked her to use the same one since I wasn't having any problems. She did say that she uses the regular Affirm. I'll go back in about 4 weeks for my protein treatment. She even thinks I could go about 11 wks before my next touch up. I just had my touch last week and it was way over due. Good luck with your decision.
