Affirm Fiberguard Relaxer

There is someone on this board who uses Fiberguard. I have used Affirm in the past but not Fiberguard. I am curious to hear responses also.

aI did a search and many things came up.
I use regular Affirm with wonderful results. The one time I tried Fiberguard was the only time I needed in order to know that it was not for my hair. My hair was drier and shedding a lot after I used it. I had to change my haircare regime entirely in order to handle the effect it had on my hair. Not to mention that my scalp was horribly itchy for many days after the relaxer was applied, even after the first and second washes! I think I had a reaction to it, but that does not mean that it is not for your beautiful mane! Hiza's hair is GORGEOUS, and I believe that Fiberguard is her relaxer of choice. I know you'll let us know what you decide. Good luck!

I have used affirm fiberguard lye regular in the past and I plan on using it again soon since I just ordered it. What do you want to know? And why are you thinking of switching? The first time I used it I put it on all natural hair. I left it on for about 15 minutes per the instructions and my hair was really soft and full and bouncy. My hair wasn't bone straight though which I like. I have really thick hair and I still had thick hair afterwards. My hair wasn't limp and had lots of body. Although, I did have mad shedding. BUT, the shedding wasn't noticed till I took out my braids after 5 weeks and combed my hair. So the braids could have caused the shedding. Well, the braids and the surge, that is. I was over manipulating my braids while spraying the surge. Initially I relaxed my hair with the fiberguard, wore my hair out in curls for 8 weeks then put in individual braids for 5 wks and then wore it out for 2 more wks before getting a touchup at 15 + wks. During the 8 wks after the relaxer I did not shed. I think the shedding was due to me extending my relaxer and manipulating my hair.
