Advice Needed...sorry it\'s a little long

Hi Everyone,

I confess that in the past I was compulsive about having straight hair. I am 6 days away (not that I'm counting or anything

) from my 6 week touch up but I want long healthy hair. One thing all of the women with long hair have in common is stretching out the time between touch-ups. I will admit that I really could go longer and now that all of you wise women have educated me I plan to go longer. The only problem is I'm going out of town at the end of the month and I want my hair to at least look passable so I've decided to go with crochet curls. I usually put them in and leave them for a week. I was hoping for some advice on how to care for my hair under the curls and I was thinking about a Hennalucent. I thought this might help me stretch out my relaxer as well as, add a little strenght but I'm not sure if it is a good idea to do this and then braid my hair.

Help??

Thanks in advance

I'm not familiar with crochet curls so I really don't have a recommendation for that. However, I have used hennalucent mixed with olive oil or castor oil several times, and my hair did feel strengthened after using it. Another alternative might be a wet set. I find that wet sets on the smaller rollers always help my hair look good when I have a lot of new growth but I'm not ready for a touchup. They also last longer with very little manipulation. I just seperate the curls without combing them out. As the days go by, I can put on headband, pin up the back or do a partial upsweep. I like the green and pink ones by Goody's or the Khaki colored ones in the beauty supply store. I just secure them with bobby pins or the duck-bill clips. If I don't want to be bothered with clips and pins, I use the black perm rods. The pink rods make a really cute version of a curly braid out. I just had to get used to snapping them in securely.

Crochet curls (like crochet braids) are when your hair is corn rowed to your head and fake hair is actually attached to your own hair with something like a crochet needle. The curls are not as bulky as the braids and therefore I'm thinking they will not cause as much stress.

Correct me if I'm wrong ladies.

Any other ideas are appreciated. Since I'm going to New Orleans and I'm from the Midwest and this is the first time I'm venturing past 6 weeks. I'm looking for guidance.

I am going to week 11 on my last relaxer and I have had great success with the Lanza's Strait Line (SL) products. I purchased the:

SL shampoo
SL conditioner
SL Smoother

the smoother especially helps to straighthen your hair. after combing my wet hair with the smoother, it looked much straighter....

I believe that their conditioner could also be used as leave-in and that the smoother needs heat to work best (I just did a rollerset and sat under the dryer for a few...).

Check out www.lanza.com for a salon near you. HTH.
