Just wanted to get some suggestions for using castor oil. Can you use it every day and how much should you use and should I mix it with other products.

Thanks Lateisha:grin:

I use it alone and in a EVCO/shea/castor oil mix. I use it to seal my ends, and the mix I can use on the length of my hair if it's really dry. I know some use it on their scalp, but it's a little too think for me to do that. I really love it!

I usually mix mine in my conditioner. I would squeeze out how much conditioner I'm going to use then add a tbs of castor oil. I find that this method works well for me esp. when I am stretching my relaxer out. It loosen put my coils leaving them very soft and moisturized. I have woolly wirey hair so that helps a lot. I tired putting it on my scalp but it would sting/irritate my scalp.

What type of styles do you where and is your hair thick, thin or somewhere in between?

I use castor oil mixed with olive oil. I don't measure. Just whatever feels right through trial and error. I don't use it when I where my hair down because it can weigh my hair. When I pulling my hair back for halfwigs I used to use it twice a day ( I'm on a shea butter kick now)

At any rate, you may need to experiment and find what works for your hair.

I found that Castor Oil is thick and hard to get out. So, I use it as a pre-poo hot oil treatment and shampoo it out.

I use castor oil mixed with coconut oil. After I wash and condition I put Cantu Shea Butter Leave In on my scalp and put the castor coconut oil mix on my hair. I have the oils mixed in a bottle and I just squeeze about a quarter size amount in my hand and put all over my hair. My hair is soft, sheeny, and has body.

My hair is medium/thick.

FWIW, I have used castor oil on my scalp in past with no problems with the hair being weighed down. Castor weighing the hair down has alot to do with the amount you use. A little goes a long way with castor oil.

I only use it to seal on wet hair. My hair is pretty fine and it is a heavy oil so I don't use it on dry hair. I used it once to rollerset and the results were not cute.

I use Castor oil frequently. Not everyday as it will cause a thick heavy build up. I alternate between Vatika oil and just using my leave-in conditioner without sealing with oil. I recommend using it lightly on the length of your hair and heavily on your ends. Be careful combing your hair with CO in it. This has been a life saver for my hair. Castor oil can be mixed with other products, in fact castor oil is found in many conditioners. I make a molasses mix that includes CO. Love Castor oil.:lick:
