ok, i used 4 parts of the rich fuschia to 2 1/2 parts of the purple rage. the first pic is what my natural hair color was and the second pic is my results. i didnt bleach my hair. im wondering if it was meant to come out like this. if not, was it the measurements that i got wrong?

How did you apply the rinse? I always apply it with my hands (with gloves on of course) or a brush like the ones you use for applying a relaxer. Also, I sometimes mix it with a little cream semi-permanent color to mix up the colors. I sit under the dryer for about 25 minutes and rinse out in the shower, conditioning afterwards. Did you do the same, or did your color just not show up at all?

I don't think you got anything wrong, I just think certain dyes are better than others, also, purple is hard to get on dark hair.
Try taking a picture in sunlight, it might show up better.
I would try mixing 4 parts of the purple rage to 1 of the rich fushia, as in my experience, for dark hair, you need a dark dye.
Also... how long did you leave it on? Try leaving it on for HOURS and applying heat if you use it.
And... condition after using the rinse, not before.

ok..this is what i did:
*i shampooed first
*then used conditioner. the instructions didnt say to do that but i was trying a new shampo and it dried my hair out
*i applied with my gloved hands
*then i sat under the dryer for 15 minutes cos that was what the instructions on the bottle said. i then washed and washed wand washed and rinsed and rinsed and rinsed. i stopped all the washing and rinsing because i wasnt sure if i was supposed to do that.

next time, i wont condition after the first wash and ill also sit under the dryer for a much longer time. the other reason i couldnt stay under the dryer for so long was because the dryer was on high heat and the color was dripping down my face and neck and it was so hot, i nearly burnt myself! Ill also do the 4 part purple rage to 1 part rich fushcia.

Not saying this may have changed your outcome, but after you shampooed, you should've just applied the rinse. It's a conditioning treatment in itself. Since you placed a conditioner on your hair, you coated your hair, and then placed a rinse over it. That may have been a factor in the color not showing up so well. Also, have you walked out into the sun yet? For all you know, the color may have taken, although not how you wanted it to, but nevertheless it could still show. HTH. Sorry your color didn't turn out how you wanted it to...:ohwell:

Just thought I'd say, I didn't mean sit under the dryer for hours, that might be bad for you hair! I just meant as it's a rinse it's perfectly safe to leave it on for a few hours and would probably help the colour penetrate better.
Good luck with your next attempt!

hoq long do you suggest i sit under the dryer? also, how many times should i shampoo and rinse after getting out from under the dryer?

I agree with not conditioning before coloring and making sure its in long enough too, but also did you make sure your hair was saturated well enough and you didn't use too much of the Purple Rage (which is really eggplant)? Also, the color might lighten a little as it fades... and it might mostly show just in sunlight.

I would suggest sitting under the dryer for 15 mins, then leaving the dye on for as long as possible after that.
I would suggest shampooing 0 times and rinsing not until the water is clear, because that'll never happen, but until bits of dye stop coming out, and it's just water with a hint of colour.

thanks everyone for the suggestion. yeah i kept on shampooing and rinsing. i must have doen it like 10 time.s i guess i was just scared the stuff will bleed when my hair gets wet. so you suggest that i shouldnt shampoo and just rinse a few times? TIA

Yeah, I'd suggest not shampooing as it'll was the colour away. But maybe one shampoo would stop the bleeding and not affect the colour too much.
I'd suggest avoiding getting your hair wet (unless you're washing it of course)... remember to take an umbrella out!
