Your solution might be too strong. Allandra gave me a perfect ratio: 4 oz vinegar to 28 oz distilled water.

I've never had a problem with the acv smell afterwards. I shampoo, do acv rinse, then condition. Maybe your solution is too strong.

Oh okay, thanks ladies. Never thought about mixing the stuff with aqua.

Your poured straight vinegar on your hair?

No wonder you have the smell.

Use the ratio above, it works very well.

This would explain the smell.

Is the ACV mainly to clarify? Does it work better than a clarifying poo?

That's what I mainly use it for. I usually use 4 oz ACV and 28 oz of water and it clarifies well for me. It's better than clarifying shampoo for me because it doesn't leave my hair drier afterwards.

Thanks Curly. I tried it once after I self-relaxed, and I remember when I poured it over my hair it felt quite good, but that was after conditioning. For clarifying, should we do the ACV rinse before conditioning/before shampooing?

I don't use shampoo, so I usually do it after rinsing, then I condition "wash" my hair. I also do it after using neutralizing shampoo when I do relaxer retouches.

I can't remember-it was a while ago.

An ACV rinse is Apple Cider Vinegar in water. The ratio depends on how much your hair can take. Start with a small amount of ACV to a large amount of water. Others on the board can better advise you on the exact recipe.

I add jojoba oil to mine and my hair luvs it!
