so I had to ask exactly what it was
[/ QUOTE ] Hi, and that is what we are here for so ask away! /images/graemlins/grin.gif We are talking about the activator that is used for Jherri Curls.

under what circumstances do you use it
[/ QUOTE ] I use it on my hair (it is not relaxed) and alot of the relaxed ladies us it as well. I use it daily, and it really softens the hair, so much so that you really don't HAVE to use it daily if you don't want to, you can use it every other day. This moisture is so key because that is how you see length when your hair has more elasticity, and doesn't snap or break off. The more length you can retain, the longer your hair will be.

what it does exactly
[/ QUOTE ] It has glycerin in it which is a humectant.
I remember this from a while ago we had a member named Dev and I think it was her who originally posted about all the benefits. She was saying something like people thought that jherri curls made the hair grow, but it was actually all the MOISTURE from the activator that allowed some jherri curl wearers to retain length. She used to have a website up with a lot of good info, but I think it's gone.
Anyway, glycerin attracts and binds moisture to the hair, this is so important because the more moisture your hair has the less it breaks. Also, most curl activators have some form of protein in them, protein binds to the hair making it stronger, don't worry it doesn't cause buildup.
Curl activator has really been key for softness, moisture retention, length retention, and even less split ends because the ends are now moisturized and not dry. I've also posted a link to a great thread below:
A thread which should help
Hope this helps! /images/graemlins/grin.gif
