Ladies ladies, I have been transitioning for the past 7 months and can't deal with the 2 textures anymore, plus i just want to do something out of my usual conservative character. my heart is beating so fast right now as I sit in the waiting area. any words of encouragement would be much appreciated.

Congratulations!

Take slow deep breaths.
Make sure your stylist doesn't cut off any progress.
Enjoy yourself and TAKE PICTURES.....we wanna see :yep:

Once you see your natural hair in all it's glory, you'll fall in love, trust. I recently did a BC after 14 months of transitioning and it was the best decision I ever made! My heart was racing too, but moreso knowing I'd be finally free of the chemicals, free of worrying about the line of demarcation and blending the two textures together. Once my relaxed ends were gone, I no longer suffered from shedding and breakage. Wash n Gos are now possible and twists actually stay put cause my ends coil up so beautifully. Best of luck and be sure to take lots of pics!

I agree with what was already said here. Just think about how much easier your hair will be to manage without the 2 textures. Think about how much nicer your hair will look because it will all be uniform and one texture. You'll be able to rock the natural styles that eluded you when you were transitioning. And best of all, you get to learn your true hair texture and watch it grow to great lengths. It's very exciting and I know you will be relieved once it's done. Good luck and document this moment well.

Subbing for pics!
I need to stop looking at these threads! All of this lovely natural hair is making it hard to continue transitioning! I'm sure yours will be beautiful and I can't wait to see.

So I did it! I was laughing the entire time as she cut, it was strange. It really was like a high. I walked out of there with my head feeling so light and my face was glowing. I got home and my fiance was in shock since he didn't think I would go through with it, he helped me shape my hair line and all. I was giddy all night. I will say though that my hair seems to just suck up all the moisture I put on it, and shrinkage is mad crazy. My curls aren't quite what I thought they would be and styling it was kind of a challenge. I woke up this morning, did a co-wash and tried 2-stranded twists for a twist out attempt. Anyway, enough rambling, here are a few shots.

I like your hair. When my hair was short I didn't do any sort of hairstyles. I was completely clueless.

I like the idea of twists, but I think since your hair is short, minitwists would look better and just rocked those (minust the twist out) . I think it would look good on you. or maybe flattwist the front and pick out the back.

And I don't know how the hair feels to the touch, but it looks moisturized to me. Good luck w/ the rest of your journey. Before you know you will be rocking a puff (seriously).

Your hair is pretty. When I first bc I wish I would have looked on the internet because I hid my hair under wigs for the first year because I did not know what to do with my hair. Rock that twa.

Congrats on the bc! Your twists look nice. I'm partial to chunky twists:). I hope you enjoy your natural journey.

Oh yay! Congrats on the BC. Your hair looks great, And it's so nice to hear that your fiance is helping. You have a great face for short hair.

I remember having some moisture troubles when I first chapped off my ends too.
Do lots of oil rinsing and deep conditioning/cowashing. Keep your scalp well oiled.

Enjoy the journey and take lots of pics along the way.

I feel so special! My threads normally don't get that much love so I wasn't expecting this large of a response. I really do appreciate it. It's funny to walk by my reflection and be confused by what I see looking back at me. I can't seem to keep my hands out of my hair. It's a whole different world and I feel like I did 3 years ago when I first joined LHCF and was learning about all the products and the jargon. Thanks for all the support rest assured in the coming months there will be many more threads from me about tips/styling etc. Now off to go stalk some fotki's for ideas
