It's not advisable, but so long as you are using adequate heat protection, you should be alright. That said, you will, more than likely, suffer moderate heat damage by exposing your hair to direct heat so often; weekly deep conditions and once-a-month light protein treatments should help to combat this.

If your main focus is style, your hair should be fine flat-ironing once a week, given that you baby your hair, and take necessary precautions before ironing.

If your main focus is health, flat ironing every week may not be the best thing; have you tried rollersets as an alternative (ponytail rollersets are great for getting roots straight and ends curled).

I have done this... My hair grew... but my ends are terrible. If you are going to do this, please use a heat protectant.

Generally, it isn't a good idea to use direct heat on your hair that often, however, some resistant hair types may ge able to take the heat. Just make sure that you are using protien weekly to give your hair strength and always use heat protectant.

I would need some background info on your hair, and to see some pictures before I can give a better assessment. But I know for my hair I could never get away with using heat every week if I wanted it to stay on my head.

I used to roller set it but i hated how it turned out when i had new growth. I only do it after a relaxer. It seems like that flat iron just get rid of those naps. But i Wash with silk elements olive shampoo every other week and i co wash with Cantu shea butter conditioner in between. I deep condition with elasta qp intense every week and i let it air dry. after that i put a little setting lotion on it and flat iron it. i oil my scalp with wild growth oil and i moisturize my hair with elasta qp recovery anti breakage oil moisturizer. Do you guys know any good heat protectors or alternatives to wut i am doin. I'm new to this website and i'm finding a lot of info that i had no idea about......oh yeah i take 5mg of biotin and futurbiotic hair vitamins everyday also. Do any of you ladies take vitamins?

I don't think its all that bad, just so long as You don't re-iron without washing, and DCing first, and use Heat Protectant, each and every Time!
