when is the best time to get braids, particularly microbraids. I want to get them because I'm in college, transitioning, and can't afford to get rollersets every two weeks. Plus i'm tired of doing it and it still looking like ish! I'm five weeks post relaxer and it seems like 30 weeks. Does it matter if my hair is super nappy (with little new growth)? I know that its not smart to get braids right after a relaxer. would now be good? ANyone got anything to say about micros?

really it's up to you if you want to put a relaxer in your hair prior to getting braids. IF you do a relaxer, it's really important that you do a good deep treatment to strenghten your hair and a moisturizing treatment for obvious reasons. A good way to go about it would be to do a Nexxus Emergencee treatment and then follow up with a good moisturizing treatment of your choice. Wait two weeks to 2 months before putting braids in to avoid structural damage to the hair. As for micros, for me they were a major no-no, they took my hair right out, maybe that's just me because many members have done the micros thing and have had no bad effects but a lot of us have used the micros and experienced extreme breakage. If you want more info I suggest that you check out this site...www.growafrohairlong.com. good luck.;)

i agree. do some treatments to get your hair ready to be in braids. wait about 2 weeks after a relaxer and you should be straight!

dont let the braider do your edges too tight/small or you WILL get breakage.
