Hello there. I've been trying to relax my hair only every 6 months and so far so good thanks to weaves in and braids. But the nightmare begins when I take out the braids and shampoo. It's a real mess . It is like all the lenghtthat I had accumulated from the braids/waives just wants to say good bye.... I currently use Motions cond. but it doesn't seem to do a good job. Please help. Iam 4a/4b. CHeers

I know what you mean. I have alot of "shrinkage". I use either Pantene Smooth & Sleek, Nexxus Humectress, Creme of Nature or Nature's Gate Conditioners for that purpose.

Thank You Ebony! I have Nexxus Humectress which is really good as a conditioner . But once a towel dry my hair for a roller set, that's when I just wanna cry..

You might want to try a conditioner made specifically for detangling. Such as Biolage Detangling Solution, Rusk Invisible Detangler, Aussie Knot Forgotten Detangler. Good luck

Lanza Dry Hair Formula Detangler is my FAVORITE. It makes my new growth very moisturized.
Surge is a pretty decent detangler too.

I'm sorry. I should have put them in the order of preference. Pantene Smooth & Sleek has been #1 for detangling for me for years. Creme of Nature second. They both provide excellent "slip" & my hair practically detangles with very little strokes of a comb, especially while under running water. I've found that not all conditioners that are specifically for "detangling" actually work.

i wanted to add that i was speaking of conditioners before. but my two fav detangling shampoos are aphogee evening primrose deep moisture shampoo (awesome!love it!) which improves elasticity & of course creme of nature's shampoos are made for detangling & actually do the job for me. i only need to use them from 4-6mths post texturizing as that's the scariest, most complicated & tangled time of my hair from all the new growth.

Try the Smooth and Sleek. Also do you detangle before you rinse ...while the conditioner is in your hair? You should. Do not towel dry before your rollerset(to avoid tangling your hair). If you feel you must then pat it lightly. Your hair will stay 'wet' while you are setting your hair which will give you a successful(and easier) set.

What really works for me is White Rain (Revitalizing Conditioner) plus one drop of Jasmine and two drops of geranium or carrot oil.

Then I spray surge on my scalp, and slick it back with Glass, and finish it off with Mango buttter.

I tried Kercare hydrating shampoo which detangles pretty good w/o film build up like CON. I usually follow with Elucence which gives me a great slip and then use Keracare Humecto as a humectant/moisturizing conditioner which leaves my new growth super humectified/moisturized. I'm 10 weeks post and so far I could strecth it another 10 I believe with this routine. HTH

For detangling I use any conditioner that gives my hair "Slip". This time around I've been using Jason Sea Kelp conditioner and Kenra Moisturizing Conditioner. I also use a shower comb (or hand smooth my hair down if I forget my comb) in the stream of water as I rinse the conditioner out in the shower.
