I'm looking for a good clarifying shampoo.Something that is gentle and not as stripping as other clarifying shampoos.Maybe something I can get at a drug store?

I know i'm asking for a lot but is this possible.:D

Th ebest clarifying shampoos I have ever used are Redken's Cleansing Cream and Nexxus's Aloe Rid. Both are gentle and they clarifying without leaving your hair dry and stripped.

I would say Alberto V05 Kiwi Lime and squeeze (this--->)

And it's only 89 cents!

The V05 seems to be good and inexpensive.
Ive had several ladies tell me to buy that to save on cash, it works just as good as the more expensive products do.

I like St. Ives Clarifying Shampoo. It's cheap, available right in my supermarket and smells great -- it has a lemon/lime scent.

When I finish my nexxus aloe rid I may try one or both of the following:

Ion purifying solutions clarifying shampoo item no.302040 (bottle)
Ion purifying solutions crystal clarifying treatment itm no.302208 (packet)

AND/OR

Ion purifying solutions hardwater shampoo itm no.302051
Ion puritying solutions hardwater conditioner itm no.302052

*sold by sallybeauty stores

Nexxus Aloe Rid was a good one, but my hair did feel a bit stripped.
I REALLY like Elucence Volume Clarifying now:)

This one is not at drugstores, but Kenra Clarifying is my alltime favorite!!!! Creme of nature Clarifying is another really great one, but the bottle is so small, IMO. A good drugstore find that was good for me is the Neutrogena Anti-residue Formula Shampoo.

I can also tell you ones that I have used that did make my hair feel so hard and stripped after just one rinse: Clairol Herbal Essence Clarifying Shampoo, Avalon Organic Botanicals Lemon Verbana Clarifying shampoo, and although not a shampoo, Joico Phine conditioning Chelating Treatment. :nono:

After knowing how my clarified hair feels after using the CON clarifying and Kenra clarifying, I knew that those others were way too much.

But, I clarify twice a week, so that frequency absolutely requires a shampoo that is labeled for daily/frequent use. At once a month or so, the others may actually work well, I guess.

Aveda Detoxifying Shampoo. Some drug stores are starting to carry Aveda products.

I love Aveda too, It's is the most gentle clarifyer ever! I thought I would mention V05 because it's the cheapest. But Aveda never fails me :D

I love Aveda Detoxifying Shampoo also! I also like Lanza Deep Cleansing Shampoo, very gentle.

I have a slight off topic question:
When you clarify do you wash once with the clarifying shampoo and follow up with a moisturizing shampoo or Do you wash twice with the clarifying shampoo and proceed to deep condition?
TIA

I just follow the clarifying shampoo with conditioner.

Yes! I agree, Aveda Detoxifier is a staple for me! :)

Try a tablespoon of baking soda mixed with shampoo and lots of water. I happen to like that very much and it doesnt strip my hair.

I love avalon's organic botanicals clarifying shampoo, I use the thereapeutic lemon verbena, i love how it cleans my hair and leaves it soft.

I like to use Lisa Akbari's Cleansing, Clarifying, Balance Shampoo...made with all natural ingredients. I copied this information from her website:

Cleansing Clarifying Balance Shampoo leaves the hair and scalp feeling clean without dryness. The shampoo removes excess dead skin cells (commonly known as dandruff), dirt and build up from hair sprays, gels and other damaging products, while preserving the hair and scalp's own natural oils. The Cleansing, Clarifying, and Balance Shampoo has been very successful in relieving some minor scalp problems like itchy scalp, flaky scalp, and tight and dry scalp. It is rich in pure natural ingredients, designed to protect hair and scalp fitness. This shampoo can be used with any chemical system on all types of hair. See the difference after just one use!

Check her out at http://www.lisaakbari.com

(I know about her because she is a trichologist from my hometown of Memphis, and I went to her because I thought I was having hair problems. But fortunately, the problems were easily corrected by changing my hair care regimen.)

I'm glad I didnt rush off to get the Ion from sally's because I see AO has a clarifier poo called green tea and the green tea clarifying creme rinse. I think im going to try this instead. :)

Oh dip...that's what I've been using. Got it sitting in the closet along with the clarifying conditioner.

I was thinking about breaking down and getting a bottle of Keracare 1st Lather...but I guess I should use the VO5 that I have up first.

I use Suave but I'm looking for something a little more gentler. I had a sample of the Keracare but it didn't feel clean enough. I may try Kenra.
