A few questions about finishers

Elle from Quest For The Perfect Curl has finishers on her HG and I read/watched about them on her blog but I'm still a little confused about when to use them. At first I didn't know what a finisher was to begin with. Clearly it's something you use at the end of your styling process but I didn't know what properties these product should posses. In her latest video she explains that finishers should be thin and moisturizing, cool beans one question answered.

But exactly when do I use a finisher? Do I put it in my hair directly after I apply my styler? Do I coat my hands with it when I take my twists, braid, bantu knots etc... out to wear as a style? What about when I do a WnG. Do I wait until my hair is dry to apply or again do I put it on directly after the styler?

Can someone please enlighten me?

I don't use them, but if I remember correctly she mentioned one or two times, she uses it on the hair around her part where her hair falls.

I have bought CJ CIAB two times and sold it each time. I just don't see the usefulness, but Elle has gorgeous hair so following her lead would probably lead to better results .
