I am on a budget and can't shell out the cost of the RPC (judge me not folks). Does anyone know an alternative product that is cheaper, but is just as effective in controlling the porosity of my hair?

have you tried a final rinse with ACV?
i do mine after i have swashed the conditioner, it works.
i mix 1tbsp of ACV with 1 cup of water and spray the mixture on my newly washed and condiotion hair as a final rinse.

hope this help

I do an apple cider vinegar rinse (one part ACV and 4 parts water). It's my final rinse after rinsing out my deep conditioner.

Diluted apple cider vinegar...I tried them both and there was literally no difference. The only thing is the smell...Porosity Control doesn't smell like sour feet, and I appreciate it for that. But the smell goes away when your hair dries.

Using pure aloe juice works well. Stinks less than ACV and does the job well

And I have used Roux religiously, ACV and aloe. I have found that incorporating Aloe Juice alone or in a leave in does the trick.

Rinse w/cold water. The acv rinse is an alternativebut I thinkit disintegrated my hair in certain areas. I never had a prob until I started acv rinses. It initially felt very good but I would be careful- I even diluted it more after ibecame suspicious. Don't know why I didn't just stop.

Co-sign on aloe vera juice- I use it in my prepoo and moisture mist

Some Sally's also sell TRAVEL/TRIAL sized containers of the product. Have you tried asking if your local either has that size or if they can order it? It was rumored to be about $2.

Also, I would send an email to the company stating that you are either a "fan" of their product or seeking samples. Some companies will send out samples upon request. The worse they can say is no.

If you have a local HHJ friend, have you tried splitting the cost of products like this that you want to try? You can make a joint purchase. You can always get empty containers for less than $3 at places like the 99cent store. You fill your container and so does your friend.

ETA: If you know anyone (a friend or family member) that has a cosmetology or esthetician license - if they are willing to make a purchase on your behalf (big IF), they normally get a nicer "trade" discount from local suppliers and Sally's. I wouldn't ask random people if this BUT if you have someone close to you with access to this, it is another option.
