9month old baby gets a relaxer, Are you serious!?!

you know what, I think there needs to be legislation for stuff like this in place to protect kids from stupid adults.

ETA Can someone with more knowledge please state if doing this to babies (not even toddlers) constitutes as some sort of endangerment?

I don't see how this is not child endengerment. If the little girl's head burn or her hair won't grow back. Then they want to sue somebody.

ETA: So if the mom didn't do it, why did she continue to do it after the first time?

At such a young age, you don't even KNOW the REAL texture of the child's hair to even PUT a relaxer! Hair colour, hair texture, skin colour, skin type, eye colour, and etc. all change as children get older! Why are people so ignorant?! :nono:

ETA: I'm just trying to say that all these physical characteristics aren't permanent and can change drastically as children progress in age. I'm not condoning the use of relaxers on children that are older but at least WAIT until you know for sure whether or not you can handle your little one's hair. Don't just smooth down a bunch of chemicals on a BABY's head! Honestly, it's not like you do a better job with the child's hair when it's relaxed anyway. In fact, I usually see these poor kids walking around with hair that looks more raggedy than when their parents "couldn't handle" their natural hair in the first place. Do your research and seek alternatives for haircare, it's not that hard! Don't just look at the child's barely-there hair and say, "OH I SEE A KINK! TIME TO SLATHER ON THAT CHEMICAL!" I mean really, at least wait until the child hits the double digits! :nono: :ohwell: :perplexed

Sad but I also agree with the first comment on the page...this is wrong but do her parents know you put their child on YouTube?

I don't know if the lobbying groups would allow legislatures to make a law about it. I am a lobbyist and a few years ago a group wanted to end tanning salon use for anyone under 16. Well, it didn't pass because people came out the woodwork. Even the current Miss Florida. People were crying because they thought their children would be white (and not tan) for the summer.
 
Where is Child Services (ACS) when you need them?

The baby is still developing & this can pose some serious long term skin damage..What if it drips in her eye (blind forever) but the hair would be straight/thats all they care about anyway.....AWFUL!

Wow! Just wow. Instead of questioning the child she should have interviewed the mother and asked her why is it so imporatant for her to relax her hair at such a young age amongst other questioning. So sad :nono:

First i hope this was a joke, i mean come on no on in their right mind would do this on a 9 month old would they? Also, all that breakage in the back of the poor baby's head indicates to me that this child has been laid back in a car seat, infant seat or chair all the time, cause the entire back of her hair looks broken off. So some lazy parent is not taking this child out her chair, just letting her sit for long periods of time. This is outrageous.

I believe it. There are some strange, twisted, and just downright dumb human beings walking among us that look "normal". :ohwell:
 
I kinda feel like this youtuber was actually exploiting the child by putting her in the video. Then she put a tiny comment box saying the girl now has a full head of healthy hair, but no follow-up video. okaaaaaayy.

I was thinking the exact same thing. The damage isn't entirely from the relaxer. It's from the relaxer breaking down her already fragile baby hair and then the hair being literally rubbed off the little child's head from constant friction (i.e. car seat, carpet etc.). Child services need to be called immediately! :nono:

I agree too :perplexed The youtuber needs to immediately take the video down and blur the child's face out. And then if she chooses, she can put the video back up.
 
I don't think people should be doing anything "permanent" to a child until they are at least old enough to have an actual thought. :angry2: People like this should not be allowed to reproduce.

I mean really, why would anyone relax the hair of a nine month old. It can't be that serious. Just give the baby a hair cut and put a cute pink headband on the child. :bangdesk:

Its child endangerment b/c , as my aunt whose a hairdresser explained to me, they child scalp is entirely too sensitive at that point for hazardous chemicals to be applied. Basically, the child skull cap can't take it and the repercussions of applying a perm could be extremely hazardous to the childs health
 
Just the idea of it is crazy. I can't even watch the video. I can't wrap my mind around this.
 
I think our outrage is more of a moral issue than a legal one. There is no law forbidding relaxers on anyone under a certain age. The manufactors may advise against it but ultimately it's up to the parents. Smoking around babies/. children is morally wrong to some people but it happens everyday.

She said she doesn't see how it is NOT child endangerment.
That means she feels it IS child endangerment.
 
Horrible.. This is so wrong,

My heart is breaking for two reason, the condition of the poor little girl's hair...and the poor girl is all up on youtube pretty much being pitied and embarrassed...
 
I am not even watching that video because I can feel myself getting angry now at how ridiculous the whole thing sounds. Poor child...

I wouldve beat that womens a$$ for putting a relaxer in my childs head without my permission or knowledge. That poor baby. I also have a feeling that there its more to this story.
