I finally bc'd and I would like to know which products(shampoo, conditioner etc) did you find works best for our hair type.

I would have to say Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Shampoo and Conditioner works extremely well for me! My hair feels extremely soft after using them! Oh and of course Ecostyler gel is my best friend!

I got my best recs for shampoos, conditioners from relaxed folks, believe it or not. What naturals with 4B hair were using did not work for me. (Eg, Creme of Nature shampoo felt good while I used it but after rinsing off, left my hair coated in a way that made it hard; Shea Butter felt good on application but would dry up to leave my hair rough...to name a few).

So for me, any moisturizing shampoo, particularly if they are clear gels, is a keeper. The clear gel part is just a preference for me because I use shampoo mainly for my scalp and I feel creamy ones leave my scalp coated. (Might just be all in the mind though. :look: ) I'm also not fussy about the shampoo needing to be non-SLS. I'll use Garnier Fructis just as easily as I'll use Giovanni 50:50. When I use Emergencee reconstructor (on weekends), I use Therappe shampoo on my hair because directions say to do so. (I'm a stickler for rules. Plus Therappe does leave hair feeling moisturized after the protein. I don't focus on my scalp for this though. I use Emergencee after shampooing using my gel shampoo so usually my scalp is clean by the time I'm using Therappe.)

For conditioners, again thanks to relaxed folks, I use any conditioner that is for dry hair. (Aussie Deeeee...p, Pantene Mask, Humectress Treatment, Organix...). Once a week, I will use a protein/moisturizer product aka reconstructor. I already mentioned Emergencee...but I also use AO GPB. I might alternate from one week to the next between these too but I tend to use AO GPB more than I use Emergencee...only coz there are fewer steps. Again, I follow directions on bottle and so apply AO GPB as a pre-poo to DC.

Moisturizer...I usually don't use any leave-in when in braids and twists--which is like all the time. I just baggy nightly. But when wearing my hair out, you'll find out what I use and recommend highly here.

Castor Oil-Sealing, twisting
Bentonite Clay- Clarifying hair...extreme softness
Henna/Ayurvedic Powders-color, strengthening properties
Homemade flax seed gel- Firm but soft hold, shiny twists/twistouts
Aloe vera juice w/glycerin- Moisturizer spritz

Cantu shea butter with natural shea butter -twist outs and styles
shampoo- dr bonners soap dilluted with water.
conditioner- using 3 minute miracle but not loving it. Still searching for the perfect one.
may go back to giovanni products

I am finding that my hair really LOVES Black Soap shampoos and Shampoo bars. As far as conditioner, my hair loves Moisturizing conditioners. Now I am trying to slowly switch to more natural brands like Healing Herbs by Rene, Indigofera, Avalon Organics and Hydratherma Naturals to name a few. I have become a big fan of making oil and herb concoctions for my hair too. Between Etsy, Ecrater and Artfire , I try lots of products. By the end of the Summer my blog should be up and running!
