4b Naturals, can you KEEP a press for 5 days or longer without reversion?

I know that's a challenge. I'm in Florida where this humidity has caused my pressed hair to revert in 2 days. 2 days.

If you have a trick to this trade, please, for the sake of me not relaxing, please share it.

I'll share what I've learned from Navsdega (sp.? sorry):
Press only with Chi Serum. It will not fry your hair like chicken. The chemicals in it are made of some type of molecular structure that protects your hair from damage.

Thanks in advance.

I think a lot of people have had success with Sabino Moisture Block.

There's a long thread about it here somewhere.

I feel your pain about reversion. Where can I find those products? (Chi Serum and Sabino Moisture Block)

Thanks for the info. Off to search Sabino.

^^^ You can find Chi serum at Trade Secrets ,I think JC Penny's or on-line. It's kind of hard to find.

OK I don't press but I do wash and set occassionally and have had straight blow outs and kept the hair for as long as a month but it's usually more like 1 week-2 weeks lately now that I am better about washing frequently. ;) The trick is NEVER encountering moisture. So if it's summer and humid outside, hat! If it's winter and MAYBE it's humid and you're not sure, hat!

I used to keep mine for 2 to 3 weeks when I used to press. My hairdresser would get my hair VERY straight to the point it looked like I wore a relaxer.

BUT after time, my ends stayed straighted so afro puffs were out of the question.

My pressed hair lasts 2 weeks plus if I want it to and I workout on the regular: Some of my secrets include:
  1. I live in a very dry climate 8.5 months out of a year.
  2. I use CHI Silk Infusion + Aveda styling products
  3. I don't try and compete with mother nature...

I was press and curl most of my straight haired days and my hair would hold a press for at least 2 weeks. I lived in a non-humid climate, though.
