I wear my normal fro or twist out. I've never had any problems and my co-workers always think my hair is cool LOL.
Honestly I've only heard concerns about natural hair and interviewing from the older black ppl in my life. They are just not down with natural hair. But it has never affected my job search from what I can tell. I wear a neat fro and keep my hair well-trimmed. I may wear a small clip or a scarf depending on my mood.
Wear a killer suit, some pearls, firm handshake, eye contact, confidence and kill em! Rock that fro girl, that's what I will do (if I get that phone call - God willing). Good luck
Oh, and be prepared for that bs 'why should I hire you' question. Or even worse, the 'what would you do if...' questions.
I wear a simple afro puff using a black friendly elastic. Neat and tidy is all they want to see. I'd not do braid-outs or twist-outs or chunky afro. I honestly don't think many people not familiar with natural hair GET those styles and you might just encounter one of those. (Heck even my afro butt has seen some that just look weird but to others, they seems to be cute, so I'd say that's a risky move.) Afros pony puffs never look uncombed or unkempt, IMO...and have never let me down.
This is how I wore my hair when I last interviewed among 32 or so other candidates for a corporate job in a Fortune 100 company, and I was the one selected.
No one in that office had natural hair but mine didn't distract or seem to get in the way of me getting the job.
I think a do think a braid tucked under like the one below would work too, whether on shrunken or straightened hair:
The idea is to look neat and tidy and be able to maintain that look all day. So a compact do is always easy to keep perfect all day, come wind, rain, or whatever.
