Hello!

I have mainly 4a hair, with looser curls in the back and some really tight 4bs in the crown. It's been 5.5 months since I texlaxed... I can't do it anymore because my hair always ends up overprocessed and jheri curl looking... lol
It's to the back of my neck but shrinks to the top of my neck... and I need help! I used Aveda DR for 4 months, and it assisted initially, but now it's like using cheap v05 or Suave.

I would like to grow into a full natural, but I cannot even think of ways to maintain this mess. I just put it in a bun...pics in fokti!

Advice ladies?

Hey, girl! I just wanted to offer you some support. Your hair texture sounds like mine - 4a/b with the 4b being in the crown. In all honesty, in the beginning I rollerset my hair during my transition but the rest of the time I straight bunned it.

I did the BC after about 6 months because I'm not a huge hair person and having to deal with two textures on my head wasn't happening. If you are going for a long transition, be very gentle with the natural part of your hair, especially where the two different textures meet. You will be beautiful as a natural and I wish you the best in your transition!

Thanks ma!

Yea, that sounds about right.
It's crazy because my hair behaves very 3c-ish at from below the crown down... but it reverts and becomes a pure 4a when provoked. I know my hair will be lovely when I get it to its full behaving glory, especially if I learn the stretching techniques on here.

I like your pics... perhaps I should learn to mowhawk.

I have no clue how to help, I figured that for me and my various textured hair it would be easier to just cut it off and work with the 2 textures on my head naturally instead of the 3 or 4 that I was dealing with with relaxed ends.

I would say try straw sets and twist outs and braid outs something that combines the two textures nicely....

Keep your hair moisturized and wear low manipulation styles.

Ditto. I deep conditioned twice weekly during my transition, spritzed daily, and wore flexirod ponytails and buns for over a year.

Your hair is so pretty.
It looks like what I envision mine will be.
I hope it becomes like that with better maintenance.

I air dry my hair on a regular basis.
Right now, my regimen is Smooth and shine (I need a lot to control the hair..) and a lot of brushing to pull it back.

Thank you TheLaurynDoll. My hair is always a work in progress. I also used a lot more (quantity) of products during my transition. Now my hair only needs a fingerful of any product I use. Good luck on your transition--I have no regrets transitioning.

I washed and conditioned my hair once a week and wore braidouts for two years. People thought my hair was natural the whole time.
